FILMFEST ENTRIES: VIC VS KRIS ANEW

By | June 30, 2012

This early, most anybody predicts that in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 this December, the movies of Vic Sotto and Kris Aquino will pit for number one spot at the tills. Last filmfest Vic’s Enteng Ka ng Ina Mo was the Top grosser, while Kris’ starrer Segunda Mano placed second.
This time, Vic’s entry Si Agimat, Si Enteng & Me top bills Sen .Bong Revilla and Judy Ann Santos, both crowd drawers too which all the more would boost it to the top, box office-wise. On the other hand, Kris has Vic Ganda to boot in Sisterara. Remember, Vice Ganda’s solo starrer Private Benjamin was an unexpected blockbuster.
For sure, the dark horse in the filmfest will be Angel Locsin’s One More Try with Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban. Shake, Rattle & Roll 14 shouldn’t be discarded. It’s star-studded, led by Vhong Navarro, Dennis Trillo, Iza Calzado, Lovi Poe, Paulo Avelino and Mayor Herbert Bautista.
Aside from Shake, Rattle.. Iza Calzado stars also in the other entry Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang, with Richard Gomez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sam Concepcion and Empress. Meanwhile, GMA films entry will be a comedy titled Conyo Problem which banners Aljur Abrenica, Solenn Heusaff and Isabel Daza who’s ex Miss Universe Gloria Diaz’s daughter.
In terms of romping awards, the foregone conclusion will be Gov. ER Ejercito’s El Presidente, the filmbio of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.Last filmfest, ER’s Asiong Salonga ran away with the major awards. Expect Nora, ER to bag the best performers during the awards night.
Coco Feels Insecure of Paulo?
An insider has a mordant comment on Coco Martin as an aftermath of Paulo Avelino’s winning the Urian best actor award recently. “Ah, Coco finds his match on Paulo. I think Coco feels insecure. May katapat na siya sa ABS-CBN na di niya inaasahan.”
However, Paulo himself refutes it as bolder dash, saying Coco exudes no crotchety reaction about him. In the first place we’re good friends since we started taping Walang Hanggan. Alam niyang idol ko siya and he has always been supportive to me. I must say my depth in acting has been influenced by Coco, what with the acting pointers he would give me many times.” Paulo was quoted as saying.
Indirectly, Paulo evinced in a TV interview that he remains loveless of late, dedicating his triumph to his family and to the Lord sans mention of a special someone. Though those around Paulo buzzed around that a Kapamilya young actress has a crush on Paulo and vice versa. But Paulo has yet to woo her.
Amalia Appreciates Bianca’s Apology But…
Apparently touched by Bianca Gonzales’s gesture of a public apology to her, ex-movie queen Amalia Fuentes appreciates her act. However, Amalia expounded the complication of the libel case she filed against Bianca. That won’t be enough for her to withdraw the case.
More or less, Amalia senses Bianca’s sincerity not to purposely malign her in the said column of Bianca in the Philippine Star on Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez which partly mentioned Amalia. But will it exculpate Bianca in the eyes of Amalia? That remains to be seen.
In contrast, heard that Amalia would file another case vs Annabelle Rama, different from her initial libel case on Annabelle.
Trivia:
A retired veteran writer-movie line producer Lita Santos Francisco who’s now based in Vancouver, related to me little known things about celebrities. Appropos to be written for the readers would also be somewhat amazed. That Lita wouldn’t believe it happened, had not seen by her own eyes.
Lita referred on an incident involving her close chum then Nora Aunor during the latter’s heyday. That time, Nora’s fans were uncontrollable, roughneck in their commotion to be near her. “Imagine sa isang province para makaiwas sa unruly crowds ay idinaan si Nora sa mga bubong ng mga bahay na magkakatabi. Unusual indeed yet I witnessed it for I was with Nora. I think no other star underwent such experience.”
One of Lita’s alagas, the late top action star Ace Vergel makes her on brink of tears every time she talks about him. You see, despite Ace’s noted toughness, bad boy image off and onscreen, he had a hidden inherent softness when his family, women got entangled with him.
“Not once, but many instances I saw Ace sob like a child while asking forgiveness for his wrong doings. It was exact opposite of his screen image. Kulang na lang lumuhod siya para patawarin ng na-offend niyang babae. Kaya nga ganun siya kamahal kahit ng nagawaan niya ng kasalanan.” Lita recounted.
Lita couldn’t forget that one time Ace stood her up in his vital career opportunity, leaving her embarrassed. For days Lita held her grudge not until she bumped into Ace who immediately hugged her. Teary-eyed Ace begged for another chance.
“Na anumang parusa tatanggapin niya mapatawad ko lang siya. Who wouldn’t soften up with that actuation? And after that, Ace didn’t commit any blunder to me. He was true to his words not to enrage me again. After his demise, every time I talk to his family, his sis Beverly Vergel, we can’t help shed tears recalling his unknown image.” Lita lamented.
Another unforgettable celebrity for Lita is Jolina Magdangal, the star of the last film she line produced for Star cinema Kung Ikaw ay Isang Panaginip before migrating to Canada. The film happened to be Nida Blanca’s last pic before she died.
“During the entire filming, I could feel how Jolens treated Nida and I like her own mom. Jolen is so loving, caring and attentive. Truly one of the best I had worked with.” Lita mused.
One midnight prior to the wrapping up of its filming, a hysterical Jolens phoned Lita to bring the sad news that Nida was murdered. Early next morning together with Lita and Jolens, this writer (Nida’s pro for a decade) were among the early mourners. Lita and I saw the crying Jolens embracing Nida’s coffin as if she lost her own mom, had tugged our hearts.
Anne Impresses Hollywood Actor
Now in the thick of filming the American film Blood Ransom, kudos to Anne Curtis. Heard that the lead star Alexander Doestch has nothing but praises for Anne who enacts a major role, that of a victim of an internet syndicate. Even some Pinoys who, by chance, were able to watch the shooting in California got blithe over his raves for Anne.
By the way, Anne vows to her local fans that they need not worry. For she has no intention to give up her showbiz career in the Philippines. Even if she makes it in US.
