Christmas Gift Bags for Isolated and Lonely Seniors

By | December 17, 2021

Christmas is the time for family and friends to celebrate the holiday season together. Unfortunately, for many seniors in our community this time of the year only increases their sense of isolation and loneliness. This past year and a half had been challenging for everyone and even more so for many of seniors who are on their own, more isolated than ever.

This year, Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers, a nonprofit charitable organization that has been providing services to seniors since 1981, is organizing a Christmas Gift Giving program for seniors living alone in downtown Toronto. The gift bags are full of everyday donated items such as food, shampoo, sanitizers, soaps, hygiene kits, winter clothing and other essential items, plus a grocery gift card.

To get involved in this program, you can drop off your donations to the Society of Sharing office located 25 Linden Street in Sherbourne and Bloor East, or make a donation online by visiting their website at www.societyofsharing.org.

They are also looking for volunteers to help sort and pack gift bags for seniors, and to deliver the bags before Christmas day. You may call 4164130380 for more information.

Your support will help Society of Sharing continue providing the needed services for seniors throughout the year, such as, providing friendship and emotional support through one-on-one virtual interaction, virtual educational and recreational programs and social activities, and one-on-one telephone reassurance calls.
