WILLIE’S TV SHOW OFF THE AIR AGAIN?

By | August 14, 2015

After the airing for less than three months, speculations soar high that by this time Willie Revillame’s show at GMA-7 Wowowin would be already off the air. Allegedly, it could be ascribed to the program’s loss of money spent on production and airtime.
However, one of the bigwigs of Wowowin Rackie Revilla claimed that co-producer Willie himself and the top brasses of GMA-7 have met that in any eventuality, Wowowin might not be seen for a while. But would be back to be a daily program due to insistent clamor of followers.
My informant who’s attached to Willie divulged that the latter neither confirmed nor denied the new arrangement for its telecast. Yet to her mind, she visualizes a new format for Willie’s program.
“I’ve heard that more sponsors prod Willie to make the viewership in daily basis for that’s what TV viewers by and large have demanded. Look, if it did flop, no new sponsors would be interested to assist Willie.” My source buttressed.
Paulo Linked to both Bea and Maja
Curiously, not a few have been befuddled on the real score regarding the current love life of Paulo Avelino. You see, he’s both romantically linked to Kapamilya actresses Bea Alonzo and Maja Salvador. There’s a semblance of similarity on Bea and Maja’s plight these days. The duo broke off with their boyfriend-actors Zanjoe Marudo and Gerald Anderson albeit Bea has not announced her formal break up with Zanjoe.
In a recent press confab, Paulo, however, reiterated he is still loveless at the moment. That Bea sort of cried on his shoulder about her misunderstanding with Zanjoe, being intimate chums for quite a time.”I do believe magkakaayos pa sina Bea at Zanjoe. That’s how I sense things to occur on the two. I’ll be happy if that transpires.” Paulo was quoted as saying.
In the case of Maja, for six months Paulo knows that she has recovered from her split with Gerald. In the process, Paulo propitiously comforted Maja during taping of their TV drama series Bridges of Love. Closeness engulfs them.
“This does not mean I do court Maja. Yes, at times we’re on dates after our work. Pero friendly date lang, not more than that. I’m very joyous that Maja has moved on since her bitter parting of ways with Gerald. I truly treat her as a special friend.” Paulo disclosed to the scribes.
Trivia:
A chance to see actor Renz Fernandez ‘s TV series Yagit via GMA-Pinoy TV made me reminisce my friendship with his famous parents, the late Rudy Fernandez and the still active actress Lorna Tolentino. A trivia on the couple reverberated.
In the ‘60s, Rudy was a UST college student when showbiz beckoned him though even as a child, Rudy was wont to showbiz life. His dad was the multi-awarded film director Gregorio Fernandez (Asian best megger for Higit sa Lahat at the Asian Film Festival 1957 held in Japan). His mom belonged to the noted Padilla clan, a close relative of Robin Padilla at that.
Before Rudy became one of the top action stars, he had appeared in the film with Amalia Fuentes and Vilma Santos under Amalia’s AM Productions where I was the publicist. Despite his serious countenance, Rudy had an innate comic flair that made me and co-workers in guffaw.
At the height of his success, an incident put a wall between me and Rudy. One time, I wrote a personal item about Rudy that displeased him thoroughly. Since then, he purposely snubbed me during gatherings, talked on his grudge against me to other writers.
Then came the time Rudy accepted a movie project under William Lao’s Bonanza Films which I handled as its drumbeater. When William learned about the rift, he made a move to patch up Rudy’s differences with me. Given the opportunity I honestly divulged to Rudy I didn’t mean to offend him. That I was indeed sorry for what I had written. Finally, a rekindled friendship with Rudy tapped me.
I knew Rudy had totally erased his ire when he consented to be my first guest in my TV show Movie Scenes (shot on locations), a daily afternoon show at Ch. 5 that I had hosted. Before the take, he noticed my tense appearance and how perturbed I was as a new host. Thus, beforehand Rudy gave me pointers to be effective and be relaxed in front of the cameras. With his helpfulness, I realized he took me as a pal anew.
About Lorna, it so happened that during her high school days at St. Anthony School in Singalong, it so happened that one of her favorite teachers was my brother Manuel. At that, during our initial meeting at the press con of her first major film role, her first query was if I was related to Manuel. She said in jest, “o sana kasing bait ka at supportive ni sir Manuel.”
As a couple, I do remember, I frequently dropped by their digs to unwind, exchanged pleasantries with them. That time, their kids Rap and Renz were in pre-teen years. We lost contact upon my departure for Canada and didn’t expect a heart tugging reunion with Lorna on my vacation in the Philippines in2008.
Right from the airport I was informed that Rudy passed away that day. That night I went at his wake. A surprised Lorna thinking I was still abroad emotionally hugged me. I got touched to hear what she told relatives and friends alike that her family considered this writer a real chum indeed.
Days later through the organization Movie Writers & Press Photographers of the Philippines (I was the president for many years), we had a tribute to Rudy through the exhibit of his unpublished photos held at the MOWELFUND Plaza, with Lorna as the special guest who cut the ribbon on its opening day. An amazed Lorna exclaimed that it was her first time to see Rudy’s rare photos exhibited. So much so that she bought all the said collection from the club for cherished souvenir.
Heart Advises Marian
For years now the friendship between Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista has eluded them. Those in the know surmise that the way Marian’s followers bash Heart makes the situation worse. In this light, Heart has an advice to Marian, according to my colleague.
“You see, I go out of my way to control my fans not to retaliate to the bashers. I told them that in responding, you make them relevant. So I advise Marian to do the same. Don’t be slip-shod in treating her fans. I’ve nothing against Marian. It’s okay for me to renew friendship with her.” My source quoted Heart as saying.
Spicy Tidbits:
Is there a looming triangle on Julia Montes, Angeline Quinto and Coco Martin? A sort of innuendo has it that Julia fences Coco no less to prevent his closeness with Angeline. Naturally, Julia brushes this off, saying in the first place Coco’s not her bf. She added that Coco has an inherent penchant to be ‘maalaga’, protective to his female chums. How come intrigue pops up that Julia feels so happy Angeline is now out of the Coco TV starrer Ang Probinsyano?
As it is, Jennylyn Mercado refuses to comment on her supposedly reconciliation with her ex-bf Dennis Trillo. On the contrary, however, Dennis indirectly replied by saying love is indeed lovelier the second time around. How come Jen still hides the real score? Does she elude something that might occur?
Finally, Ai-Ai delas Alas affirmed that she has found the whereabouts of Jiro Manio’s real dad in Japan. Soon, she promised Jiro to bring him to Japan to reunite with his father. Obviously, Ai-Ai ignores the malicious palaver that she’s that way with the ex-child star. “What’s important I’m sincere in helping Jiro na mabait na bata. Please give him a better future rather than maligning us.” Ai-Ai uttered to a pal-scribe.
As of this writing, showbiz people and fans alike opt to support Mar Roxas as the presidential bet come 2016 election, being endorsed by Pres. Aquino, not to mention Mar’s wife famous Korina Sanchez to fully back her up. How about if later senator Grace Poe would declare she would be a presentable also? For sure, the votes will be divided. Or not a few opine Grace would get higher votes, out of her dad the late Fernando Poe Jr.’s strong hold on the Filipino people in general.
How true is the running gossip that a not so young actress had a sex fling with her ex actor-lover? Allegedly, the tryst transpired when the duo worked anew in a TV show recently. Of course, both denied it. But co-workers in the said program raised their eyebrows in protest. “We should know better.” They echoed.
