The Gutierrez Family: Lessons on Proper PR

By | June 17, 2011

From the late‘50s to early ‘70s, movie idol Eddie Gutierrez became a well respected and most loved showbiz personality. His name was synonymous to a real gentleman, responsible and never a kiss and tell person. In mid-70s, Eddie hired this writer as his pro when he branched out as movie producer under Mabuhay outfit. The more his professionalism and no talk attitude on his love life won my admiration for him.
Surprisingly, Eddie married Annabelle Rama who’s his exact opposite being a fighter, temperamental and trouble prone lady. But in fairness, she’s endearing as virtual protector of her family. Their equally famous children Ruffa, Richard and Raymond either inherit their dad’s cool nature or trained by him at an early age how to handle things properly if involved in tight situations. Look. In the high profile personal and court battles of Annabelle against a top lady executive of the Kapuso network, Ruffa, Richard and Raymond charged with tact on their comments on the feud and were visibly objective on their analysis of the said tiff. The three’s reactions awed even the mentioned TV exec who, in more ways than one, have been attached to them. Truthfully, the animosity of the protagonists has been repudiated by Ruffa, Richard and Raymond to this date.
Another example recently came out when Richard’s driver had been caught for over speeding in the said killer highway in Commonwealth Avenue, QC. Some were virulent in saying it was partly Richard’s fault, a spurious at that. However, the Gutierrez’s have replied to such allegation propitiously. Except for Annabelle who, as usual, threw lurid words to the driver and Richard’s detractors. “ Gusto mong magpakamatay eh bakit idadamay mo ang anak ko. At yung iba huwag magmarunong. Di sila witness sa aksidente kaya huwag makialam ,no.”
Like Ruffa, Richard and Raymond, Eddie’s older sons Tonton Gutierrez (by Lza Lorena} and Ramon Cristopher (Pilita Corrales’ offspring) exude finesse and deportments which Eddie are noted for. Ever since, the two have rapport, closeness with the Gutierrez’s, including Annabelle. More or less, the lessons on proper public relations have been inculcated to them by Eddie.
Angel, not bitter on Luis and Jennylyn supposed affair
Don’t look now, but the rumoured romance between Luis Manzano and Jennylyn Mercado has gone out of proportions. These days Luis’s chums at ABS-CBN voiced out it’s his prerogative to choose the girl he would love. That even Governor Vilma Santos somehow defended Jen.” Wala akong tutol kay Jen. Kung kanino liligaya ang anak ko, I wish him the best.” Vi was quoted as saying.
A Brouhaha Awaits Kris-Dingdong Team Up
Finally, the ballyhooed initial movie team up of Kris Aquino and Dingdong Dantes materializes. The Kapamilya network show heralded the news recently. Mind you, kibitzers have already buzzed that brouhaha awaits the duo. After Diether Ocampo who was Kris leading man in Dalaw, most likely Kris will be romantically linked to Dingdong. But the innuendo would be the aftermath. It’s an open book that Dingdong’s girlfriend Marian Rivera is a spitfire, palaban woman who’s won’t take a rival sitting sown.
As it is, Kris never runs way from volatile scenario nor keeps her mouth shut. Naturally, many would surmise an embroiled incident between Kris and Marian to come to the fore. If ever. that will be a very hot item.

Where does it leave Angel Locsin? Up to this time, her reconciliation with her ex bf Luis has been anticipated by their diehards. And perhaps the patutsada to Luis of some like, “naku ha may anak pa ang ipapalit kay Angel. What a choice, nakakairita” came from Luid-Angel diehards. This, matter of factly, disturbed Angel who denied she’s bitter about Luis-Jen affair.
A co-writer who interviewed Angel recently informed us that Angel sympathized with Luis’ sentiments. You see, he felt it did boomerang on his mom Gov. Vilma Santos for like Jen, she sired Luis before her marriage to Sen. Ralph Recto.
“Of course. It’s hurting for both Luis and Gov. Vi to misjudge Jen by others. I used to be chummy with Jen when I was still a Kupuso star. I’ve known her to be a good, nice and unpretentious person. If ever, no one should blame Luis for loving her. Kung sila na, I’m happy for the two.” Angel was quoted as saying
Sunshine Unaffected by talks on Cesar and Iza
Since the taping of the new GMA-7 sitcom Andres de Saya started, talks soar high about the supposed closeness of lead stars Cesar Montano and Iza Calzado. Specifically, their romantic sequences as couple in the story had been topic of insidious remarks. That allegedly, their kissing scenes have rubbed on the duo off-screen. Knowing that Cesar’s wife Sunshine Cruz falls on the jealous type {she had altercations with his past reel partners),, would she eventually confront Iza?
Nope. As Cesar himself admitted to a pen pusher, Sunshine has high esteem for Iza for the latter’s sensible, prim and proper nature. “My wife’s not affected by such gossip. In fact, she admires Iza and vice versa. So, we just shrug off that baloney between me and Iza.” Cesar mattered.
In the first place, Iza has been open on her relationships with a non-showbiz guy for some time now. Moreover, she’s tagged as one man-woman by her intimates.
Bistek Pushes Thru with the QC Filmfest
Barring an unforeseen circumstances, the Quezon City Film Festival will go on before the year ends, most likely in October, as evident by what Mayor Herbert Bautista’s drumbeaters declared. You see, it’s one of Bistek’s promises to supplement the interest of QC moviegoers on the local movies. He’s supported by his family, especially his actress-sister Harlene Bautista and her actor-hubby Romnick Sarmenta, plus the mayor’s lady love Thates Gana. Aside from this, Bistek backs up too Viva Films’ remake of his blockbuster film with Aga Muhlach Bagets. This time, Aga, Bistek and the original cast play special roles to young stars that’ll re-enact their parts.
Incidentally, kudos to Bistek who saved the life of a depressed man who tried to commit suicide by jumping over a building within the QC hall. Bistek was able to convince him to forego it, with a vow to assist the man in his problems. Now, the Mayor has given him a job and financial assistance to the guy’s poverty-stricken family.
How True…
That Judy Ann Santos seems not convince that Katheryn Bernardo anew will delineate her past title role Esperanza which has a remake very soon? Talks imply that Juday prefers another young actress to play it.
That Luis Manzano and Dennis Trillo have a confrontation over Jennylyn Mercado who’s said to be Luis’ current love and ex of Dennis? As averred by some no heated arguments took place. Just a heart to heart talk (or a compromise?) for the sake of Jen.
