Tearful reunion between Father and daughter after 40 years

A community leader has been battling guilt and longing for a daughter that he  has not seen for 40 years.

The story of being young, falling in love at 24 years old, getting a girlfriend pregnant at an early age, faced the anger of the parents to the extent of hiding the girlfriend and their baby for years and years with no contacts at all.

Danny Doma, a community leader has left the Philippines to work, to Saudi Arabia, Australia, and then to Canada with a thorn on his heart as all along there is something missing in his life.

He had a partner and two children in the Philippines, the cause of the girlfriend’s parents’ anger that justified their move to hide the pregnant sweetheart from him. He never saw them again, no news of their baby, a daughter that he longs to see.

Danny in his travelling days found his current wife and settled  here in Canada. They now have three children. While working he is constantly thinking of the whereabouts of his long-lost daughter but never started a move to find her. The burden has in his mind, wondering what had happened to her and if she is still alive.

Now retired and 67 years old. With his new job as an international real estate broker has the time to finally pursue the desire to complete his family. He now wants to make the search. He wanted his children to know each other. This long-lost daughter is now 41 years old and the ATE (oldest sister) of his other children in Canada.

Knowing where to start, he searched the social media. Thankfully, he knew the lost daughters name but not the married name.  Danny spent all his free time looking for known relatives of the girlfriend’s family.

Luckily on Facebook, he was contacted by the sister of his daughter’s mother who lives in the U.S.  From that, Danny found the first lead. He tried to continuously communicate to later bring up the subject of his daughter and her whereabouts.

Unfortunately,  the sister was so scared of her family and declined to make them connect.  Danny gave up but he kept a little bit of information that he used to start his search.

Danny found out that the grandparents decided to make her carry the mother’s surname and was introduced as their youngest sister to avoid embarrassment and scandal. She is now married with two kids and have been living in Japan for years.

It took a while for Danny to get information from Facebook in Japanese language but got lucky to be able to make friends from Filipinos in the country to ask if they know her. The friends all doubted him, at the beginning thinking he was just another scammer.

From constant communication they felt Danny’s sincerity  as he gave them the  assurance that his search is for real.

The day came from the advice of close friends. The daughter responded to Danny’s quest. He then wrote a long letter to her narrating the whole story about their lives. The daughter grew up not knowing anything about it.

It took a while to convince her. It was a big shocked and a big  disappointment that she was in the dark about her existence.

Months and days of waiting for Danny to get a reply from her till finally, Danny wrote and said, he wanted to introduce himself and if she could not accept the truth then he said goodbye.

That woke her up and decided to communicate in return.

So, then the truth became known. The daughter then called her oldest sister that she now knows as her real mother in the Philippines to tell her that she met her father. Caught with the lies, it did not take long for the mother to finally admit and relate her version of what happened.

Danny has decided to meet her daughter in Japan. It was a tearful reunion at the airport to finally meet her after 40 years, together with his two grandkids.

The daughter was supported by her friends who were tearfully watching the reunion of the father and daughter who by unfortunate events got separated and did not see or heard from each other for 40 years.

Danny accomplished his mission and very happy to fulfill his wish. He is now in Japan staying with his daughter to know each other better and they plan to go home to the Philippines in 15 days for a grand reunion of relatives from both sides of the family.****

We are sure this story touches so many lives. We know that that there are more fathers and mothers that have lost children they are longing to be with before they go to the great beyond. Social media is a good start. Do it, before it is too late.****
