Fascination to some, it may be, but the placards carrying protesters , all SENIORS, showed no signs of slowing down, proudly waved to onlookers, hecklers and supporters the messages written on the multi-coloured card boards intended to attract those who paid big bucks to watch a 3 hours comedy show.

Calm and enjoying the warmth sunny weather, the Protesters lined up in front of Sony Theatre, with police on patrol. Some were in awed, stopped to read, snapped pictures to capture pentel-pen written messages: “Rapists not allowed in Toronto”, “Eat Bulaga haven of Rapists”, “Sex Predators on the Loose – watch out”.

Colonial mentality still embedded to those who yelled back to the protesters…. “Matagal na nangyari yan”, “umuwi na kayo sa Pilipinas”, “nakakahiya yan ginagawa ninyo”, “tumahimik kayo”, and the usual “BOO”. In other words … Just “shut up “.

Crowd slowly moving in to Sony Theatre were faces of mostly middle aged men and women, teenagers, some grandparents “lolos and lolas” in tow , patiently lined up till the theatre doors opened.

Complimentary tickets given a plenty to those who support the production.

The main attraction? Ageing, wrinkled face Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon and Richie Reyes (lost in oblivion) -they are  co-hosts to long running Eat Bulaga TV show and also, tagging along with them are some wannabe stars “kuno”.

Ano ang kasalanan nila? Their Offence?? …… GANG RAPE!!!

Victim?…. Pepsi Paloma. – a 14 year old girl, drugged and gang raped by 3 sex maniacs.

Reason for Protest????…. Justice for the victim!  The trio rapists – free and adore by many continued to perform and be the stars of the show. The rapists must be incarcerated or jailed for life .

After the rally, time to unwind to watch “Ginoong Pilipinas Canada 2014” competition. l-r: Ores Ting, Jess Carlos,  and Tess Cusipag ( one of the judges )

Indeed, SENIORS we are! We are all retired professionals, principled, and strongly believe on righteousness, justice, equality, and punish the guilty.

Our mental and health are at par, though vision questionable , those fine prints we still can decipher well.

Actions …. we must do to raise awareness, assist those who are helpless and vulnerable, picket, rally, then we can proudly say – been there – done that!!

Hmmm…pension , old age cheque, should be in the mail by now.

Next action……Jackpot!!!  Life is good!!
