REGRESSION: Knowing Your Past

Knowing the past is looking at the future and chances are we can aim for perfection. On the other hand, living in the past is living in a illusionary world, and there will be no advancements, no progress and that opportunity of knowing our past life was just for pure and plain entertainment and therefore without value.

We seek professional help to assist us in ‘looking’ at our past lives; past lives that seemed to have great impacts in our current lives; this is of course, if the seeker is one who believes in ‘karma and reincarnation’. But whether they believe in the ‘Universal Law’ of karma and the general rule of reincarnation, people would somehow always question the differences in our life’s status; the physical, emotional, wealth and mental strata of individuals. People often ask why certain individuals are born superior in many aspects and the others born with so much less of a lot of things.

Then ‘regression’ could be an answer to the query, as it is one process where one can see his past life/lives and understand the reason to all matters concerning the quality of life one has in his current life. An individual can go to deep meditation or trance-like state, either with the help of hypnotherapist who will be guiding his mind to ‘travel’ to his past or by self-regression if one has the ability and knowledge to do the journey. Our brain records and thereby contains the history of our lives as they are experienced. This information is ‘tapped’ to surface in regression therapy.

PROCESSES:

THE GUIDED REGRESSION:

It is done with the help of a professional hypnotherapist. In each session, the subject will be placed in a relaxed state that is commonly known among practitioners as the ‘Alpha State’ of consciousness. This is a state where one will have the time to relax the mind, body and soul, simultaneously. The benefit of going into the ’alpha’ state of mind is that one can integrate his mind, body and soul into one. This is the only time where one may experience total oneness of oneself and the benefit of such is unlimited, from the physical, mental and spiritual attunement. Even if you are not aware, or even if you don’t have the experience in meditation or hypnosis, a professional hypnotherapist can positively guide you to go to the innermost part of your self and eventually your past lives. The success of a session is of course dependent on both the hypnotherapist and the client, blending and trusting positively together.

Each session may last for a few to several hours depending on the speed of the mind process and acceptance of the procedure. Several sessions may also be needed as regression can really be tiring physically, mentally and emotionally. So the need to break off and continue at a later time to rest all senses.

Consideration is also given to the past-life-reading’s success and failure in any particular session when the life stories of a regressed individual affects his emotional condition. Our emotion greatly hampers the clarity of our mind processes thus there are errors and misses in viewing our mind’s story. The resulting scenario is then incomplete or hazy. The results must be clear and readily understood for the present life’s adjustments to the current life situation.

The main benefit of seeking a hypnotherapist’s assistance is like having an experienced driver going through a long drive to an unfamiliar destination. The chances of encountering problems in the journey and being misled by signs and symbols in the process are avoided, especially if one does not know how to do it by himself.

SELF-REGRESSION:

Self-regression is doing the procedure by yourself. For starters, it is very important that one must have the knowledge of meditation.  It is the primary tool to have a successful regression. So if you do not know how to and can’t meditate, then you can’t do it solo. Though in some cases, spontaneous self-regression inexplicably happens.

I firmly believe that the need to know the past is very beneficial to us. If in case you happen to get in to an spontaneous self-regression, or if you want to try

self-regression, here are the step-by-step procedure that could guide you smoothly.

    1. Look for a quite place, and start to meditate.
It is very important that the meditation be done in a quiet place where nobody can disturb you. It will be disastrous if you are disturbed in the middle of self-regression. It has a negative set-back, like not knowing all the things that can be learned from the past when it was almost there and losing it. Negative thoughts could affect you because of that unfinished scene. And going back to the same scene will not be easy, because it is a free flowing thought and that it cannot be induced even if you try very hard.
    1. Calm yourself in every scene or symbol that you may see.
One must not fear any vision such as animals, like horse, a lion or even a dragon; items or places, like knives, thunder, raging waters. You need not fear all of these because they maybe symbols and keys that will bring you to your past. Remember that our brain understand figures, symbols, and colors more than scenes. Just let the symbols and figures flow and the scenario and vision of the past will just come into your mind and into your senses.
      1. Try to hold on to your emotion
Visions of the past are loaded with emotions, happy and sad with regards to the successes and failures of one’s life story. Try not to be affected by these emotions at all. Emotional outbursts will drag you down back to the present and away from the lessons that one needs to learn from the past. Control that emotion until you are finished with the regression and go back to the present with the knowledge and lessons you have seen in your past life and be able to correct the mistakes that was done before.
      1. Try to hear sounds, you may get your past-life name.
The visions that you will encounter will not be limited to scenes, colors, letters and numbers flashing through your head. You can also hear sounds of all kinds, just try to listen. Taking more time, linger a while more and you may be able to hear some sounds. One may get their names in the process: Who they were then and who are the people around them. Try to listen to the conversations and one may even join that conversation and understand deeper the lessons to be learned.
      1. Remember that regression can’t affect you physically so reacting in any type of scenario is futile.
Sometimes a subject is being carried away by the visions they are seeing or ‘experiencing’, that sometimes they cry, shout, and even act violently. Keep in mind that all reactions are unnecessary while in regression. It even shortens the regression period and could lead to more questions than answers.
      1. Try to practice by looking in on a not-so-distant-past of your life.
Meditate and try to go back yesterday, a week, a month that had passed. It is my practice to go back to the past whole day, like yesterday, or the other day, to check my good deeds, misdeeds, and things that I did not act on. It is my own way of checking myself out to rectify my mistakes, if there are, and be proud of myself if did a lot of good, subsequently becoming a better person in the process. This is a practice that can train you to regress by yourself. Keep on doing it and it will turn out easy, becoming second nature to you. Try to recall one’s past day on a daily basis, and you will see that regression is an easy thing to do.
Our life today is based on our past. We must not live with our past but we have to learn the lessons of our past. We must not be vengeful but be more forgiving; not to take things negatively but always positively; not to be destructive but be productive; and most of all not to feel lonely and sad but to be joyful and happy for you are alive today and have the chance one again to gain perfection.
