If plan doesn’t miscarry, by this time Regine Velasquez would have inked a two-year renewal of her contract under GMA-7 network. Apparently, that would push through for after a long absence at the Kapuso program Sunday All Stars, Regine showed up and emblazoned her loyalty to the Kapuso station.
When queried by a colleague how she would assay her contrasting decision with hubby Ogie Alcasid who’s now at TV5, Regine reportedly muttered.
“Kahit magkaiba kami ng choices, we’re happy, wishing each other the best of luck. After all, we’ve always been supportive to each other, no clashes whatsoever. Here lies the harmony within our family buoyed up by mutual respect.”
Heard that the Kapuso management entreats Regine to fully prepare for a new show which she will top cast few weeks from now.

Trivia:
From late ‘40s to ‘60s, top love teams in local cinema could be categorized differently. Firstly, those who became famous as reel lovers but never had romance off-screen. Secondly, the pairs who fell in love out of the camera range which ended in marriage. Thirdly, they turned lovey-dovey in and onscreen yet eventually broke up.
In the first batch during the late ‘40s and early ‘50s, the most popular were Rogelio dela Rosa-Carmen Rosales of classic films like Maalaala Mo Kaya and Ang Tangi Kong Pag-ibig. Romance didn’t blossom as Rogelio eventually tied the knots with actress Lota Delgado while Carman married a non-showbiz guy. Rogelio’s brother Jaime dela Rosa had Mila del Sol as love team in movies topped by In Despair and Haring Solomon and Reyna Sheba. Mere friends ,Jaime chose a colegiala named Betty as lifetime partner and Mila plunged into marriage with a noted businessman.
Their tandem was followed by Mario Montenegro-Delia Razon and Armando Goyena -Tessie Quintana. Mario got an actress Letty Alonso as wife. Delia married a business tycoon Rely Reyes of the Sta. Ana race track. Armando had a socialite Paquita Roses as better-half. On the other hand, character actor Johnny Reyes became Tessie’s husband.
Of course, the top teams of that period were Nida Blanca-Nestor de Villa and Gloria Romero-Luis Gonzales. Nida opted to wed Ruth Torres of the noted Torres Optical and Nestor eventually said I do with Marilou Cacho from the upper society. Luis had a businesswoman –wife Vina Concepcion and Gloria married actor Juancho Gutierrez.
The most famous of love teams who turned couples in the late ‘40s and early ‘50s were Pancho Magalona-Tia Duran, the pair of Jose Padilla Jr. and Arsenia Francisco, so with Rita Gomez-Ric Rodrigo. Pancho and Tita bannered romantic flicks then, topped by Dahil sa Iyo.
As husband-wife the two had a series of box office hits which introduced a new dance craze in every movie for both excelled in their terpsichorean prowess such as in Isang Sulyap Mo Tita, Isang Halik mo Pancho. Jose and Arsenia were acknowledged for their dramatic films, notably Gulong ng Palad based from a radio drama series then. And Rita-Ric top billed light comedy-drama stuffs like Reyna Bandida and Maldita.
The ‘60s focused on the Movie Queens of that decade Susan Roces and Amalia Fuentes. Amalia’s love team was Romeo Vasquez. In one of their starrers Ako Ang May Sala, Romeo garnered the best actor award in the Asian Film Festival held in Manila. Sadly, their marriage went to rocks, with Liezl as the ex-partners only child.
As a freelancer when Sampaguita Pictures closed shop, Susan found in Fernando Poe Jr. a new love interest in Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw and Zamboanga. After marital plunge, the duo made a series of blockbuster comedy movies for FPJ Productions; No Retreat no Surrender si Kumander, Mahal Saan Ka Nanggaling Kagabi, among the stuffs.
A rare case was exemplified by Joseph Estrada-Perla Bautista team. Be it on screen or real life their affair had volatile incidents along their path. The duo quarreled a lot in the flicks with the away-bati syndrome. Out of the cameras, their love relationships were akin to that. An example was the pic Markang Rehas where both won the FAMAS best actor, best actress awards.
One time when Perla tendered a birthday bash in a noted QC resto, Joseph created a scene, a melee with others, out of her misunderstanding with Perla. That was a hot item then as reported by media. In any case, after parting ways, Joseph and Perla have remained cordial with one another. Perla even became chummy with Erap’s wife Dr. Loi Estrada.
For the record, Erap, Perla were reteamed in the comic opus Dodong Tricycle and Kumander alibasbas where once more, the pair won acting awards. Interestingly, during his presidential campaign in Batangas, Erap expressed these words.
“Did You know that I nearly married a Batanguena whom once I loved so dearly, none other than Perla Bautista.”
Piolo, Gerald Not Envious of Joel
Albeit Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson’s co-star in On the Job Joel Torre outshone them in 17th Puchan International film fest held in south Korea (Joel won the best actor award), the two aren’t envious of him. In fact, Piolo and Gerald are all praises for Joel as an actor and as a person.
“Joel shared with us the rudiments of proper acting, how to succeed in business during it’s filming. He’s not only a multi-awarded actor but also a successful businessman.” Echoed Piolo and Gerald.
Amalia Still Undecided
From her European tour, Amalia Fuentes enplaned back to the Philippines in time for her birthday on Aug. 27. She’s still in quandary whether to accept a full length TV drama role or just a guest appearance anew. Her frequent trip abroad might hamper a TV schedule, that’s why.
Amalia has standing offers from Ch 2, GMA-7 and even TV5 which seems a bug-bear for her to err in judgment.
