The term psychosomatic is common usage that has association with imaginary things but medically is not correct. This is a state where physical ailment is evident but the main reason is it is originating or influenced by mental or emotional cause. Here, the medicine and medical procedure has less effect and worst is having no effect at all.
The word psychosomatic started around the early 1800 due to the work of J. C. H. Heinroth, a German psychiatrist, a naturalist and vitalist who introduced a new approach to medicine. The context was formalized in 1945 by British psychologist James L. Halliday. The word has been in use since then among a wide range of practitioners, often with different interests but with same theory; mind affecting the body and the body affecting the mind.
The standpoint of medical world varies and have a complex study and explanation regarding this matter and a lay man will be at lost wondering what’s the simple way of understanding this .The dynamics of this matter is broad and vast but it can be defined in one narrow and simple explanation, a person get physically sick because he thinks he is sick.
Let us find ways to understand this psychosomatic syndrome that constitutes seventy (70%) percent of all new ailment of mankind. It is a given fact that man easily suffers from many ailment when the comfort zone of his life stops. For example, a chain smoker suffers lung cancer or heart ailment when he already decided to quit smoking. A lady suffered breast cancer when she retired from work or her husband dies. A person suffered stroke when he is already bothered by so many financial and personal problems. And for sure many of just don’t know this examples but experienced it first hand or saw this happened with some of our family member. The trauma of moving out of the known comfort zone brings abrupt changes to one’s mind and body thus making one vulnerable in so many ailments.
In our article it is best to give pointers and guide so one may not suffer the syndrome of psychosomatic rather than tackle hi-polluting explanation of medical terminology and studies. Because man must know the power of the mind that has the inherent capability to heal its own body and have the ability also to bring ailment to his own body. As it can bring reconstruction and degeneration of body cell, it can also bring destructive enzyme to every part of one’s physical body.
Remember that man is both mind and body yet to others, body and mind but whatever comes first and second doesn’t matter at all, the effect will be the same. A healthy mind and thought will have a better body and future. So to have a better life, read and understand the following:

TIPS FOR A BALANCE MIND AN
D BODY STATURE
1. ACCEPTING AGE – whether we like it or not, age copes up with our body existence. The mind won’t age but the body will. The spirit is willing but the physical body is not. This is a saying all of us will endure. But again the mind is so powerful. One must understand the age of the body is genetically older than the wisdom of the mind. The wisdom is to balance age with the body and know the weakness and strength of oneself. Then adjust on the things and activities still probable to the body age. For example, one may still play the sports he love most but lessen the competitiveness. Some focus on coaching and guiding others of the sports he mastered all those years. The mental competitiveness is still there but the physical prowess is delegated to the younger generation. The purpose is still the same and the benefit will be reaped through the universal law of cause and effect. The universe will give more years of mentally healthy living to that person for that act alone.
2. THE TRUTH WITH WEAR AND TEAR the metal joints of cars and other simple machines that have flexible joints is periodically greased, serviced, and maintained. Some are replaced after several years. Whether it is a man or a machine, it is the weakest part of any matter that has flexible joints. But man forgets this, and when the slightest pain occur, the mind surrenders and it is now the beginning of a never ending poisoning of the body through endless intake of medicines like steroids and worst is undergoing operation for alteration of bone and tissue replacement. My point is if the mind can tolerate slight pain then the body will survive longer than those who have less pain tolerance. Age here maybe a secondary factor but athletes or those who uses those joints are more susceptible to suffer the fastest wear and tear syndrome.
3. DEPRESSION MANAGEMENT – problem will occur anytime sooner or later. This is the usual killer for anybody. Depression can kill. The mind can command the heart and other organs to get sick and eventually to cease working. This is the main reason for psychosomatic ailment. The mind is telling the body to get sick and ill. Actually it is one way to get away with problem, escaping mentally and physically but there will be no medicine available for this kind of problem. One must practice to manage depression before this phenomenon happens. Think of this, problems have solution. If one problem has no solution then it is a reality to live with. Though it is difficult but there is no other way but to face problem upfront. Try to learn the virtue about detachment and acceptance and things will be better. Change is the only constant in this world. Accept that with hope for a better future.
One may not suffer mental anguish and eventually body or physical ailment. But one may choose to live a better, longer, and meaningful life.
