PAULEEN, MAINE NOT ON GOOD TERMS?

Once and for all, Pauleen Luna wants to put an end to the chaff issue about her and Maine Mendoza. Talks still persist the two are not on good terms for Pauleen dislikes Maine to the hilt. In her Tweeter Accounts. Pauleen disclosed in her 13 years as co-host of Eat Bulaga, all the hosts, staff as well treat each other like a family.

“I really don’t know why they say I dislike Maine. Yes the two of us have no bonding time for most of the time Maine’s within the barangay areas. Ako naman lagi sa Broadway studio. But it does not mean we’re not friends. Every time we bump into each other, though it seldom occurs, we exchange pleasantries and never would turn back to each other.” Pauleen mentioned.

Queried about the issue, Maine construed that she herself has no inkling who ignited such mendacious blab. Yet she believes no one from her followers would circulate it. Whatever, Maine hopes Pauleen and Vic Sotto will not blame her for that hair-brained rumour.

Trivia:

At times, the youngsters of today’s generation curiously ask this writer, the background of early magazines, newspapers and tabloids in the early ‘50s and later years. In the spirit of throwback of past decades, the original mags then in Tagalog were Ilang-Ilang, Bulaklak and the most popular Liwayway.

The movie mags were Kislap, Literary Song Movie and the highly controversial Movie Confidential which focused on the hidden scandals of celebrities. That was the era when showbiz personalities kept under wraps their personal, overt happenings which were exposed by the said publication. For the record, this ignited libel cases filed against its publisher and writers.

Eventually, Fokien Times publisher Andrew Go put up Movie star, Movie Screen and Movie land magazines edited by the late Douglas Quijano, Franklin Cabaluna and Ched Gonzales.

English mags in the limelight then were Weekly Graphic, Philippine Free Press and Sunday Times. Subsequently, Weekly Graphic launched Miss Philippine Movies through votes of readers, fans all over the country thus making the mag more saleable, with huge increase in circulation

The first eventual winner in the popularity tilt was Susan Roces and second placer happened to be Amalia Fuentes that all the more heightened the duo’s rivalry.  The year after the late Nida Blanca won the title beating Amalia who placed second anew. Reportedly, the result caused  the rift between Nida, Amalia’s diehards.

The widely circulated newspapers in the ‘50s were Manila Times, Bulletin, Chronicle ,Philippine Herald, Daily Mirror and Tribune. The Tagalog dailies were Taliba  and Balita . Well read tabloids were Daily star, Pilipino star, Fotoplay, Bongga, Bulgar, Abante and Remate.  Later People’s Tonight, Tempo, Abante Tonite came out.

To recount, I started my journalism profession as a short story writer in Liwayway before switching as  news reporter under Daily and Pilipino star. One time, while walking along U.N Avenue, Manila with four CIS agents who were my chums, a group of drunk palace guards accosted, mauled us sans any reason. My friends and I were beaten. While being treated in the hospital, I contacted police reporters.

Due to front page news in the dailies on the incident, with a headline Palace Guards Beat up Reporter. Four Others, this paved the way for then First Lady Imelda Marcos to contact me, pleaded  not file cases which we gave in due to her noted soothing words. Mrs. Marcos gave that credit to me. For weeks later during the declaration of Martial Law, my name was included on the first list of journalists who could write again.

At that,  Mrs. Marcos recommended me to be in the staff of the only newspaper then Daily Express and eventually was assigned movie editor of its sister publication Evening Express for years.

Is Heart not Capable of Pregnancy?

Detractors somewhat abased Heart Evangelista right after she celebrated her third wedding anniversary with senator Chiz Escudero last February 15. The bottom line falls on Heart’s not capable of having a child because she’s a ‘baog.’ Her close chum Lovi Poe instantly has come to her rescue.

Lovi stressed that love has to batten more on the mutual agreement of a couple. “Let’s respect the wish of Heart and Chiz not to be in a hurry to have a child. “I’m been attached to Heart for so long that’s why the allegation ‘baog siya’ is untrue.” Lovi was quoted to say.

Bagani Stars, Staff React Being Compared to Encantadia

The people behind the new TV series Bagani have reacted on being compared to another previous series from GMA-7 Encantadia. For one, its lead actor Enrique Gil avouched for a fact that the Philipines has great epic stories which differ from one another.

“Besides, in truth Bagani had been planned already in the past.It’s five years in the making, Kaya wala kaming ginaya..”Enrique voiced out.

Meanwhile, his leading lady Liza Soberano stated that so far she delineates her most difficult yet awesome role, a milestone in her career. She’s grateful to ABS-CBN management for choosing her to be a part of Bagani, a one of a kind indeed,

Another Pinay Singer Shines Abroad

In the ongoing Ireland’s Got Talent singing tilt, another Pinay shines named Shaniah Rollo. Her rendition of  True Colors made the crowds and judges alike to give her standing ovation,  Judge Louis Walsh remarked, “you’re effortless, has a perfect pitch at young age of 13.”

Co-juror Jason Byrce commented she’s a beautiful kid with an amazing voice which Denise Van Outon agreed to the fullest. At that, this early Shaniah has been predicted there to  enter to the finals. If ever, once more to put to the fore Filipinos excel in belting songs.

A lovely actress asserts she and her actor-boyfriend are still that way with each other, getting stronger bond compared before. She admitted that once she was on the brink of break up with him. But the batty talks of his closeness with his male pal had nothing to do with it. She does not doubt his gender, a real man that he is.

“That time due to my hectic works I felt I neglected him. Pero mas pinakita niyaang love, care for me. I realized he’s the right guy I’m bent to marry in due time.” The actress enthused.

Did KC Concepcion split with her boyfriend Aly Borromeo?  Not a few have noted KC has no mention of Ely at her Instagram for days. Plus the reports the two were not together last Valentine’s day that made others conclude a break up occured already. In any case, KC’s confidante assessed that the lovers just need a space but still on a relationship.

After her reign as Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 ends, could it be true Winwyn Marquez would transfer from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN? According to a source, her contract with the Kapuso network has recently expired with option for renewal. Reportedly, Winwyn and her manager Arnold Vegafria haven’t decided  yet, out of the alleged better offer of the Kapamilya station. Interestingly, her parents, ex-couple Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez have shows under ABS-CBN.

Latest report has it that John Lloyd Cruz and Ellen Adarna tied the knots via a civil wedding held in Quezon City.  Its mayor Herbert Bautista quashed it off as fake news , no marriage transpired. However, at this writing, Lloydie and Ellen have neither denied nor confirmed it. Ellen even erased her social media accounts to shun virulent messages.

Some observers are disappointed on the comment of Richard Gutierrez that he’s happier being with ABS-CBN network for it’s the best, number one TV station in the Philippines, somewhat ignoring GMA-7 who transformed him a big star, primetime king then. They echoed, “whatever you say bidang ka sa Kapuso eh sa Kapamilya kontrabida ka lang sa La Luna Sangre.” Ah, a food for thought indeed.

Are Erich Gonzales and Lovi Poe still at loggerheads with other? Since the two hurt one another in the fight scene of their starrer Significant Other, talks snowballed both were affected. Now, after most of the viewers have opined that Lovi beat Erich in the said flick, acting-wise, allegedly that triggers more the duo’s differences, so they say.
