Missed Something

By | October 14, 2021

Laughter is the best medicine, so they say. Pets and plants ease pain too, if I may.

But best of all is shared humour with family and friends to brighten any gloomy day.

Surfing the Net, I came across an interesting and exciting post, as quoted below.

“Two vacations a month apart! Works well.

Vacation mandates! Bull’s eye, says William Tell.

Add a booster vacation! Many eyes are aglow.

Keep safe. Stay healthy. Have fun. Go, go, go!”

Am I missing something?

*****

Whatever, I am sure that vacation hesitancy protests will have to go on worldwide.

Bet you. Hundreds of millions of earthlings just can’t take vacations, for all the right reasons.

Even after rolling up sleeves and getting jabs, many cannot hang gloves, pack up and hit the road like Pac.

Just saying: Am I missing something?

*****

I know. “Anti-vacationer” is a misnomer.

Biblical accounts never said that Thomas ever doubted the notion that everyone loves a vacation.

Really, did I miss something?

*****

Anything that soothes the body from head to toe is welcome; thus, mixed massaging should not be an issue.

Whether you are into modern hydrotherapy or traditional shiatsu, be relaxed and feel great.

Nothing is comparable to a well-done and well-received massage, whatever the vacation status may be.

Seriously, I missed something. Right?

Free the mind of woeful reality or deceitful delusion or a mix of both. Nonsense never made sense, anyway.

Over-thinking about how the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog may be bad for mental health.

Give a thought, however, as to why now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the country.

Stop worrying about how Titanic Rose felt being on top of the world, and how Karen Carpenter gave the phrase a positive, joyful and loving note. The movie and the song were meant to be.

Here’s the best deal. Applicable or not, the last part of the Scout’s Oath says “… to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.”

Book a vacation. Ring the BELL — Breathe. Enjoy. Live Life.

I rest my “missing something” case, Your Honour.

September is over and so is hot summer. October is here and so is cool autumn.

Well, just in case memory slipped. And flip-flops and a winter jacket became fashionable.

To be certain, I’ll tie a string on a finger. It is still 2021and nearly Halloween, isn’t it?

Fairy tales begins with “Once upon a time …” and usually end with “… lived happily ever after.”

Election talk usually starts with “Once elected, I promise …” The end is almost always never promising.

The federal elections are over.  I pray that elected party leaders and riding winners will keep in mind the people’s goodies they said they will fight for.

Sitting as honourable Members of Canada’s 44th Parliament for the next several years, they will have enough time to figure things out and deliver on campaign promises.

“Fizzled out” is a catchphrase voters are never impressed with.

Newly-elected Member of Parliament (MP) Rechie Valdez deserves the community’s best wishes.

Valdez represents the riding of Mississauga-Streetsville.

The September 20, 2021 Canadian balloting was one of 68 national elections and referenda slated and/or conducted in various countries worldwide, from January to end-September, 2021?

A Wikipedia list says there were four of such political exercises in January, seven in February, nine in March, 12 in April, five in May, ten in June, five in July, two in August and 14 in September, the same month when powerful countries like Canada, Russia and Germany had their polls.

Further, eight are due this October, ten will be in November and six in December. That brings the total to 92 conducted and scheduled polls for the year 2021 throughout the globe.

Wow! Politicians appear to be so obsessed with costly engagements in the middle of a pandemic?

Simple folks, however, look with favour at any distraction — like shopping for tissue paper after a Tik Tok dance sequence — that could sway their minds off Covid-19. Was the election a distraction?

Madame Earth’s revolution and rotation must have made many humans hilong talilong and nursing an irritating sakit ng ulo, as Mr. Moon’s full glow incited politicians to raise things to the next insane sordid level.

Has someone predicted that the mess is yet to come? God forbid!

Have respect and civility, honour and dignity gone into the sewers during the short campaign trail.

At the gravity some party leaders bashed, lashed and ranted to discredit each other, voters who have seen unpleasant segments of the debates should have been given rebates.

Cotton balls and earphones could be swift solutions to ease hearing pains. The smarts simply switched channels or turned off the TV and hit the sack.

Then after viewing a bet having a shower of gravel, a friend asked: “Throwing stones? Are we safe from the Taliban?” To downplay the sarcasm, I shot back: “What’s with a nasty wedding?”

While reviewing paperwork in my tampipi, I came across a sheet that contained a download from years ago, tucked next to my copy of the poetic Desiderata, another printed download from the past.

Finding it interesting and relevant during the seeming social, economic, medical, political and Nature-driven misery many people worldwide are in today, I wish to share the same. Here goes:

Theoretical physicist Albert Einstein was always asked: “Do you believe in God?” Einstein’s consistent reply was: “I believe in Spinoza’s God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a god who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings.”

Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher, considered one of the three great rationalists of 17th-century philosophy, along with René Descartes in France, and Gottfried Leibniz in Germany.

Who, then, is the God that Spinoza wrote of and who Einstein had much faith in?

“God would have said: Stop praying and punching your chest! I want you to go out into the world. I want you to enjoy, sing, have fun and enjoy everything I’ve made for you.

I do not live in dark, cold temples that you built and say is my house! My home is in the mountains, in the woods, rivers, lakes, beaches. That is where I express my love for you.

Stop blaming me for your miserable life. I never told you there was anything wrong with you or that you were a sinner, or that your sexuality was a bad thing! Sex is a gift I have given you with which you can express your love, your ecstasy, your joy. So don’t blame me for everything others made you to believe.

Stop reading alleged sacred scriptures that have nothing to do with me. If you cannot read me in a sunrise, in a landscape, in the look of your friends and in your son’s eyes, you will find me in no book! Trust me and stop asking me. Would you tell me how to do my job?

Stop being scared of me. I do not judge or criticize you, nor get angry, or seek to punish you. I am pure love.

Stop asking for forgiveness; there is nothing to forgive. I made you and filled you with passions, limitations, pleasures, feelings, needs, inconsistencies and free will. How can I blame you if you respond to something I put in you? How can I punish you for being the way you are, if I’m the one who made you? Do you think I could create a place to burn all my children who behave badly for the rest of eternity? What kind of God would do that?

Forget any kind of commandments that tend to control and manipulate you, so that you may feel guilt.

Respect your peers. Do not do what you do not want done to yourself.

Pay attention in your life. Let consciousness be your guide.

This life is not a test, not a step, not a rehearsal, nor a prelude to paradise. This life is the only thing that exists here and now, and it is all you need. There are no prizes or punishments, no sins or virtues. No one carries a marker, no one keeps a record.

You are absolutely free to create heaven or hell in your life.

I could tell you if there is anything after this life, but I won’t. But I can give you a tip. Live as if there is nothing after, as if this is your only chance to enjoy, to love and to be. So, if there’s nothing, then you will have enjoyed the opportunity I gave you. And if there is, rest assured that I won’t ask if you behaved right or wrong, I’ll ask. Did you like it? Did you have fun? What did you enjoy the most? What did you learn?

I want you to feel me in you when you kiss your beloved, when you tuck in your little girl, when you caress your dog, when you bathe in the sea.

I am tired of being praised; tired of being thanked. What kind of egomaniac God do you think I am? Feeling grateful? Prove it by taking care of yourself, your health, your relationships and the world. Express your joy! That is the way to praise me.

The only thing for sure is that you are here, that you are alive, and that this world is full of wonders.

And I will always be there beating within you.” Spinoza

I know. Halloween trickin’ and treatin’ is still so far away.

How about thinking of a Yuletide trick and treating your ears with joyful Christmas songs and carols? #####
