MIRACLES IN OUR MIDST

Different beliefs debate on miracles having stopped a long time ago, that was during Christ’s time. But for those who still believe that Christ is alive and never left us in the first place, miracle is at hand, all the time.

I have personally heard several people of different religious beliefs that it was only during the time of Christ that miracles really happened, on the other hand there are others that firmly believe that miracles still happen in our time. I believe that it’s a bad idea to not believe in pure and simple ‘hope’ that things could get better, if not the best scenario one could hope for.

I have stories here of ‘miracles in our midst’.

FLORENCE

She is a woman in her early forties, with three young children, two young boys and one little princess. She has a typical life like most women in our country. Ordinary as it can be, until a medical problem crossed her path.

She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer that needed immediate operation as her doctors advised – and to undergo chemotherapy or radiation after the operation. She called me and gave me that sad news. Calls came pouring in from other family members, of my sister, Florence’s delicate condition.

She asked for my advice as her Kuya, and as a healer. My advice to her is to defer the scheduled operation. I told her that I will do everything so a healing miracle will be given to her. I do not know if she believed me that time.

As I know her, she was so bothered and believed more the advices of the doctors. I gave her another advice and that is to get a second medical opinion, and even third, if she can from different hospitals. This she followed, and the results and advices where all the same, that is to undergo the same procedures and therapy.

She again asked for my advice, and again, I told her to wait for the miracle to work first. The truth is, healing people that are closest to me; people who are dear and loved most are the hardest to heal that I experience. Emotional attachment runs high and the thought of failure at my hand, creates the greatest fear in my life. I feel uncertainty with the fate of my sister, even though I prayed really hard – a sign of fragmented faith, but I still believe that God knows my heart.

I requested my dear friends and prayer-volunteers to help me ask for a miracle focused towards my sister’s illness. As the date of operation is nearing and she had to decide and yet felt bad about it, she made several calls to me, deciding- undeciding in each call made. The last call that I received was the night before the operation. I made my last message for her to hold on to – I told her that if others got healed and have experienced the miracle of healing, there’s no way she will not be healed and experience the same. I advised her to take last pre-operation test first before finally deciding what she wants to do.

That night, I surrendered her to God. I prayed that if she will not get well, please God don’t let her suffer. I love my sister that much and If possible let her ailment be mine, but that is impossible. I left my prayer room with one thought in mind – ‘my sister is now in God’s hand, no matter what happens’.

The day of operation came. I was holding a meeting with my staff when my phone rang. It was Florence, so excited from the other end of the line telling me that the cancer tumour was nowhere to be found! Even the doctors who examined and tested her before were all puzzled!

I made only one statement for her, to go Church and thank God for the miracle she received. I put the phone down and cried so much out of happiness – for this miracle that I experienced in my lifetime, at exactly the time when we need it most, and exactly what we need at that moment.

Than You Very Much, My Lord!

KENO

He received his miracle exactly on the day of his birthday. Many will not believe his story, but again miracles do happen in our time!

Keno is a young man in his 20’s. He is a lively youth and yet contemplative most times.  He would just smile at any given moment or during conversations.  Maybe because he is a bit shy and respectful to me and the others, being an employee and currently working for me in one of my construction projects.

In that particular project of mine, I noticed a technical/electrical problem, which I subsequently called the attention of both the subdivision developer and the electric company of the area for proper and immediate resolution. The electric post was mistakenly put in an area where all the wires crossed the area of the residential lots. However, both the local electric company and the developer blame each other on a very clear technical fault. I made it a point though that whoever is at fault, it is definitely not the lot owner’s fault, and it would be unfair that the homeowner suffer the consequences of this fault and that this error or fault must be fixed as soon as possible.

It seems that money is more important than life to these companies because our complaint fell on deaf ears. To make matter worse, the design of the house that is being constructed by us was adjusted and re-adjusted several times so that the wires and cables from their defective post- or lot-plotting do not entangle with the house’s roofing. The worse scenario would be that any of my workers might get entangled with the wires and cables!

The one we fear the most, happened. Keno got electrocuted while doing the roofing of the house we are building. His head touched the high-tension wire that exploded upon contact with his head. He was thrown several feet away from the site of contact, but luckily did not fall on the top floor of the house.

He suffered 38% body burns, and a deep cut on his head, exposing part of his skull. To the amazement of all, he was alive and his mental faculties are in 100% functioning condition! It is a miracle indeed that he survived.

The time that Keno got electrocuted, I was in Manila. I was in shock and I fear for his life, the question running through my head was, “Is he is dead?” My other employees and workers assured me then, that he was still alive.

I went inside my prayer room and did pray to God to heal Keno. I also requested my friends and prayer-volunteers to pray for him, like we’ve done before. I trust God that things do happen for a reason and everything has a purpose, and that includes this sad accident. Immediately, I left for the project, and directly went to see him in the hospital (where he was brought by co-workers right after the incident) to attend to his needs. When I saw him in the hospital, he was conscious but in critical condition.

The whole time that night, I again asked fervently for a miracle for this young man. After a week he was clear of any major injury except the wounds from the burns. Time will heal the wounds and with continuous prayer for the miracle, healing will be experienced.

These are two true stories of miracles. I am glad and happy that I witnessed these myself, first-hand. I had the opportunity to feel God and see how His hand works with incidents that seem impossible to man.

Again, a miracle is for those who believe and have the faith in the power of God and have the hope during the time when there seem to be no hope remaining, when everything seems lost, over and done with, and possess nothing but only the belief in God’s miracle…
