LOVI POE’S DILEMMA

By | December 1, 2011

Out of my close association with the late Fernando Poe Jr. as his Press Relations Officer for almost 20 years up to his demise, many in the Philippines and abroad asked an inquisitive query. If Ronnie were alive, would he allow his daughter to be liberated in her lifestyle, especially on love matters? Not most anybody knows that Ronnie was inherently a conservative person when it comes to family upbringing. Perhaps, Lovi would be in dilemma. But for one, Ronnie knew exactly that youngsters now belong to a generation of free thinkers who have minds of their own.
Surely, Ronnie would give Lovi a leeway to be independent minded. However, on terms of daring, torrid scenes as an actress he would be a wretch to see Lovi in such sequences. You see, he once opened up to me that if ever her daughter would crash filmdom, he would never permit her to go bold. Granting that Lovi doesn’t mind to strip on cameras, she’ll be in a predicament with Ronnie around. So that’s it.
Incidentally, Lovi declared in a recent TV interview that ever since she’s all admiration, infatuated with Jericho Rosales. Well, if what ensues will be a TV or movie project for the two, expect Lovi to be romantically linked with Echo who seems loveless these days. After all, a lot of guys have been rumored to be that way with Lovi.
A Right Act for Juday?
So Judy Ann Santos herself confided to writer-chums that on the outset she was woozy on the alleged affair of Ryan Agoncillo and Brazilian charmer Dianna Meneses who regularly appears on Eat Bulaga. Apparently, Juday gave in to the virulent talks about the duo. Yet lately, she realized it was a mere prevaricate report. Truth to tell, Juday admitted that she personally approached the Brazilian beauty to apologize for her awry notion on her.
How come a few who profess to be in the know somewhat contravene Juday’s reaction? They’ve claimed that their eyes didn’t betray them as they witnessed Ryan and Dianna lovey-dovey during Eat Bulaga stints out of the camera range and far from the sight of their co-hosts. Just a pother to create more intrigues? Ah, there are always two sides of a story.
Surprisingly, losing 40 lbs. ushers in a slim, sexier Juday. Frankly, she looks much better and gorgeous compared to her single years. As she mused, “product of efforts on my part para laging mabighani sa akin si Ryan.” Looks like Judy all ready to face the kleiglights anew.
Trivia:
Did you know that Tondo in Manila played a vital part in the Philippine movie history? For the record, in 1917, the first movie outfit Malayan Films held office at the said area, specifically at the Azcarraga extension. Its producer was Jose Nepomuceno from Tondo, called the Father of Philippine Movies. Interestingly, he’s the grandpa of the multi-awarded world champ in bowling Paeng Nepumuceno. Paeng’s dad Angel used to top line films that time. The initial offering of Malayan Films was Dalagang Bukid which starred the Sarsuwela Queen Atang dela Rama and Marcelino Ilagan, the patriarch of the famous showbiz Ilagan clan. These include the late actors Angel Esmeralda, Jay Ilagan, meggers Gerry de Leon, Conrado Conde, musical director Tito Arevalo, broadcaster Ruben Ilagan, ex-actresses Liberty Ilagan, Melissa Gibbs and the still active Robert Arevalo and Janno Gibbs.
Curiously, the first local cinema house was built in Tondo named Cinematografo Rizal, just in front of the Tutuban Railroad station. The place is now Claro Recto extension. Aside from local films, stage shows drew long queues of habitués there.
No wonder that from the ‘40s to the ‘60s, Tondo and its streets were prominently became a part of the movie titles then. To name some; Sa Tondo Man May Langit Din, Batang Pritil, Batang Bangkusay, etc. Even movie king Ronnie Poe bannered flicks like Batang Tondo, Hari ng Tondo, Pitong Gatang,Sa Iyp sng Tondo, Akin ang Cavite and Eseng ng Tondo. Moreover, ex President Joseph Estrada who spent his childhood years in Tondo chose it as the setting of his starrers. Among the stuffs were Tondo Boy, Markang Rehas, Patapon, Dodong Tricycle and the historical pic Ito Ang Pilipino which showcased too that Tondo was truly a significant landmark in the Philippine history.
When Erap retired from showbiz, his younger brod Jesse Ejerccito formed the 7 Crown movie company. He launched a search for a Tondo resident who would tackle the title role of Tondo Girl. The eventual winner was Amy Austria who’s visible today as a seasoned actress.
Other showbiz people from Tondo were Norma Blancaflor, Chichay, Bentot, Mila del Sol, Mona Lisa, Fred Montilla, Tony Santos, cinematographer Sergio Lobo, novelist Pablo Gomez, the still active ace comedian Dolphy and Perla Bautista who represented Tondo in the Ms. Manila Red Cross tilt. She emerged the first runner up which spearheaded her movie discovery.
No Flash-in the-Pan Success for Kathryn, Julia
While it’s true that teeners Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes created a stir in the TV top rater Mara Clara, some snowball maleficent talks on the duo. That what the tandem achieved seems a flash-in the-pan success. For their first movie starrer Way Back Home failed below the expectation at the box office. The same detractors echo that the two’s second TV show Growing Up paled in comparison with Mara Clara, Meaning, it’s not allegedly rating good. Could it be true?
Well, according to a source from the Kapamilya network, there’s no truth to such allegations. She clarified that though not a real blockbuster, Way Back Home earned above average, especially in U.S. and Canada. And Growing Up, in its recent airing, continues to improve in viewership far and wide.
“Kaya lang walang ingay sina Kathryn at Julia ay walang controversies dahil both are young to engage in innuendoes.” She buttressed. Ah, well said indeed.
Piolo, KC No Room for Reconciliation
Even confidantes of Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion spread news that at this stage, there’s no room for reconciliation for the duo. Something believable for it could be ascribed to the fact that Piolo and KC somehow snubbed each other. In different occasions given by ABS-CBN, either one didn’t show up. And in one incident were Piolo and KC came, KC wasn’t ‘around in the finale number. She begged off, saying she felt ill and left hurriedly. Merely to shun being seen with Piolo?
Every time nosey writers ask Piolo about KC, he has always a way to evade a direct reply. Same holds true for KC. In fairness to the ex-lovers, never would they mouth unpleasant words to each other. Quite a hint love and respect haven’t taken a back seat thoroughly. To say of a possible kiss and make seems not far fetch.
Flash Reports:
As of press time another chaos dogged the Revilla clan. A female suspect in the killing of Ram Revilla implicated his sister Gail Revilla as the mastermind of her brod’s murder. Allegedly, the runaway car used by the killer is owned by Gail’s husband. Heard that Gail in near state of shock and fell into hysteria to learn on the pernicious accusation. Hopefully it will be proven false.
From Viva Films’ boss Vic del Rosario, got an info relayed by a reliable source that anytime now, news will be announced. That the details, the airing of the new show of Sharon Cuneta at the TV-5 have been finalized, Reportedly, it will be akin to the Oprah Winfrey show and will begin in January.
The people behind the American TV awards Emmy handed a special recognition for the drama series Impostor for being a strong contender for the best TV drama series. Reports indicated that its stars Sam Milby and Maja Salvador earned the respect and admiration of the Emmy body. Definitely, it will be a big boost up for Sam who’ll soon penetrate America’s boob tube.
In the case of Maja, it’s high time for ABS-CBN top brasses to re-launch Maja to full stardom again, not relegate her to supporting roles like in My Binondo Girl. Maja deserves solo starrers.
