Could it be true some followers of James Reid are not supportive of Nadine Lustre? Talks spread that some prefer a different reel or real partner of James. Truth to tell, James’ pal Ivan Dorchner who’s being built up by GMA-7 as one of Barbie Forteza’s leading men in the TV series Meant to Be has noticed it too.
A colleague quoted what Ivan remarked. “I personally observe that attitude of several fanatics of James. That’s why I don’t expect them to support me also despite my long time friendship with James. In fact, he pushed me to try showbiz.”
On the contrary, when queried about it, Nadine has a pliant comment. “Whether true or not, let’s respect the fans even if they reject me. I believe each one has own preferences with regards to love team. What counts most my relationships with James not affected.”

At the height of the arch rivalry in fame and talents of Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos, a new actress Hilda Koronel emerged via Lea Productions. Producer the late Emilia Blas discovered Hilda at the time she was a high school student at MLQ University. Along with other tyros, Mrs. Blas presented them to the movie press.

Rather than to feel envious, Hilda was amazed, even teased Jay. “Naku ha, I never thought mas sikat pa pala sa iyo ang mommy mo.” And before Hilda left, she frankly related to me how she grew up in poverty stricken family in a squatter area. “This compelled me to dream big which is slowly tapping me.”Hilda didn’t controvert.
Subsequently, Hilda gained international recognition via the Lino Brocka movie Insiang at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Her beauty, versatility made her a favorite of the foreign press that led her in the covers of international mags and on the front page of newspapers.
The kudos Hilda received could be the factor why Hollywood actor Nicholas Hammond to accept the lead role in the film Cherry Blossoms, opposite Hilda which was entirely shot in Japan. To recall, Nicholas happened to be the child actor in the top American movie The Sound of Music, spearheaded by Julie Andrews. Nicholas was also the first actor who delineated Spiderman.

Coney Denies Maine-Vico Romance
It’s nice to hear that after a long respite, Coney Reyes returns to acting. She’s in the cast of My Dear Heart, the new Kapamilya network TV series. Naturally, inquisitive writers asked if it’s true that her son Pasig city councilor Vico Sotto (her son by Vic Sotto) and Maine Mendoza are lovers.
With a grin, Coney does not mind if Vico falls for Maine for she’s the type who won’t meddle in her son’s love life. But definitely, she assures that the two are mere friends only, the fact attested to her by Vico’s closest chums that he remains single.
“Perhaps, my son prioritizes on his job as councilor. The rumor triggered with the joke of some of Vico’s pals urging him to court Maine. Bagay daw ang dalawa.” Coney who’s a friend of mine quipped. This reminds me, out of her religious nature, Coney gifted me a bible prior to my departure to Canada.
The Other Side of Lea Salonga
Much have been said, written about internationally known Lea Salonga, the first Asian to receive the prestigious Tony Award and acknowledged too by the Olivier, Theater World Awards for her excellence in singing and stage acting. But only a few know the other side of Lea as the mom of her ten-year-old daughter Nicole by her husband Robert Chien.
Judging from Lea’s statements and from how people close to her visualize her, she instills a loving yet a broad understanding in upbringing Nicole. Lea once posted that at the time of her pregnancy, she envisioned that her child would grow up to be her own person.
Those around Lea are happy to hear what Lea commented about Nicole. That at ten, Nicole displays headstrong, determined, tough and smart traits, showing maturity despite her young age sans waggish nature. Lea sighed that’s what she has dreamed of. In a recent gathering of the Miss Universe tilt, an actress who once joined the Bb. Pilipinas contest was bullied by a group of gays. She overheard them of the uncouth remarks, upbraided her on her poor performance during that competition. She held her composure yet couldn’t control to cry.
So when her boyfriend arrived, learned about the gays uncalled for actuation, altercation almost ensued. Her enraged lover was about to physically harm the gays who left hurriedly. The actress was able to pacify him to shun a possible rancor that would push her in a bad light.
Beverly Reunites with Showbiz Friends
At this writing, Canada-based ex-actress Beverly Vergel now award-winning film director of internationally acclaimed Living Instead is on vacation in the Philippines. Bev posted her reunion with showbiz friends. Vic Sotto and wife Pauline Luna tendered a welcome bash for her. During her ABS-CBN days, Pauline’s mentor in the acting workshop was Bev that ignited their friendship.
Curiously, a colleague asked me how come despite the fact that Bev worked for many years under ABS-CBN, her triumphs at the international film fests in Spain, Brazil, Canada and Even in Hollywood, U.S. via Living Instead have never been featured on the news programs of the said network? That’s puzzling indeed.

Both Alex Gonzaga and non-showbiz lover Mikee Morada quashed off reports that this year marriage will beckon the duo. As Alex mattered, “we’re not on the brink of engagement yet. So Malabo pa.”In any case, Alex’s sibling Toni Gonzaga would never leave her side in supporting her decision.
After dilly-dallying if he’ll accept her reteaming with Sarah Geronimo on the fourth sequel of their previous starrer A Very Special Love, John Lloyd Cruz finally nodded, so latest news has it. Lloydie clarified that what he yearned for was a new movie with a different plot, not a sequel which the producer approved.
