IS KRIS’S SON WORTH A LEAD MOVIE ROLE?

By | June 28, 2013

Reportedly, Kris Aquino uttered in her TV show that she would allow her son Bimby to appear in her Manila Film Festival entry with Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon if it will be a lead, bigger role than Ryzza, and the new child star.
Perhaps, its producer and Ryzza herself who’s humble to admit she comes from a poor family in Pampanga won’t have any objection. But how will Ryzza’s diehard fans react? Pretty sure they ‘re capable of throwing these words.
“Yes Bimby has famous parents. But he hasn’t proven anything yet acting-wise. Don’t forget Ryzza made history as the first child star to host her own TV program Ryzza Mae Show, a big hit. And her natural flair for ad-libs, comic antics consistently hold the audience, TV viewers in stitches. That’s why even critics agree she’s the new showbiz child wonder and has the makings of another Ai-Ai delas Alas or Eugene Domingo in the future.”
Understandably, like any mom Kris only wishes the best for her child Bimby. Granting that said movie project pushes thru, hopefully Bimby lives up to expectation, not relegated to the background by Ryzza.

Trivia:
Did you know that in the ‘60s, Sampaguita Pictures catapulted to stardom ten new stars at the same time as Stars ‘66? The grandiose launching was more significant with the presence of top non-showbiz personalities led by then a fresh First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos, a close chum of the producer the late Dr. Jose Perez.
They were Rosemarie Sonora, Gina Pareno, Blanca Gomez, Loretta Marquez, Shirley Moreno, Dindo Fernando, Bert Leroy Jr., Pepito & Ramil Rodriguez and Edgar Salcedo. The five pairs starred in Mga Batang Squatter and Mga Batang Turista.
From then on the love teams were Rosemarie- Pepito (Magic Bilao), Blanca-Bert (Sweet Valentine), Dindo-Gina (Paano Kita Lilimutin) Alyas Batman (Ramil-Shirley with Dolphy). Interestingly, like her sis Susan Roces, Rosemarie was in demand star, Gina emerged the most controversial out of her stormy private life.
After several dramatic starrers, Blanca settled down with a non-showbiz guy, lived in U.S. Subsequently, Shirley followed suit, opting to live abroad with her non-actor husband. The most reticent of the batch Loretta quit showbiz at the height of her success to join a religious sect which transformed her to a faith healer prior to her demise.
Among the actors, Dindo was recognized for his versatility be it in comedy, action or dramatic roles, with acting accolades to boot. Sadly, Dindo untimely passed away. Same thing occurred to Edgar (late Movie King Leopoldo Salcedo’s son) whose long illness brought his death. Later, Bert (son of deceased pre-war movie idol Bert Leroy Sr. and noted broadcaster Luz Mat Castro) enplaned for U.S. to stay there for keeps.
During the emergence of Stars ’66, a talented Gina Pareno seemed to be pushed backward due to her publicized frays, including her slapping of a movie newsmen, the late Ched Gonzales. Thus, the Philippine Movie Press club had banned Gina for a year.
Through the years, being the lone survivor in showbiz of the Stars ’66, Gina matured beautifully as an actress and as a person. In the recent years, her acting know hows ushered in several trophies, locally and through international film fests, notably the Indie film kubrador where she got best actress award. To this day, Gina receives plaudits for her role of Coco Martin’s protective grandma in the tele-serye Juan dela Cruz.
These days, Gone are Gina’s controversial way, what with her being well respected by her peers and as a loving, dutiful family woman.
International Awards for Jessica after vice Ganda’s Insult
How would Vice Ganda take it that after his insulting joke to broadcaster Jessica Soho (he apologized later), international awards tapped her? You see, the US International Film-Video Festival accorded Jessica the lone Silver Screen Award for her program State of the Nation Address (SONA) With Jessica.
This came right after Reader’s Digest Asia named her the Most Trusted News Presenter for the third time. Jessica felt the accolades erased the feckless joke of Vice Ganda to her. At least, Vice Ganda shouldn’t flutter but instead send congratulatory words to Jessica.
Marian ,Mother Lily Reconcile
After a misunderstanding due to an exchange of contrasting words between Marian Rivera and Regal Films’ boss Lily Monteverde, the duo have reconciled. It ignited when Mother Lily disclosed she had no Metro Manila film fest entry for Marian rejected her movie offer with Judy Ann Santos. That Marian wanted a solo starrer.
Marian disclaimed it saying she didn’t utter such statement and that her managers Tony Tuviera and Rams David would decide for her. Mother Lily countered intensely.” Siya ang nagsabing solo siyang makikipag-usap sa akin. I’m not a liar and my daughter Roselle who was with us can attest to what Marian declared.”
Days later, both admitted a simple mistake. That Mother Lily didn’t get Marian’s point and the latter was quite vague in rejecting the film fest entry. That Marian really asked for another solo starrer, with no offense meant to Judy Ann Santos. What turned out that it was Juday who said no to it, out of its story’s semblance to her new TV series.
The reconciliation ended with Marian, Mother Lily kissing, hugging each other in front of press people during the confab of Marian’s movie My Lady Boss
