FATHER’S WISDOM

By | June 28, 2013

All of us have the virtue and wisdom we learned from our father. It is the very reason of who we are today. This creates man’s success and failure that bring happiness or pain in one’s life.

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers out there even though it is a day late. The whole month of June and even the rest of the days of the year can be given to all fathers as a special day if one chooses to. The idea of giving one special day to a specific individual of our life is to show them that they are recognized for their effort of their chosen role in the family and society. This is a very special day for a very special man we first met, our own father. Regardless of the family status, fathers will not be that much different from one another. Let us count the ways that all fathers have in common.

1. PROVIDER – When we talk about our father the first thing that will come to mind is his ways of providing for the family. From a simple farmer who brings home camotes for dinner and some bamboo materials for the toys of their children to an urban father who brings home toys from the mall and food from fast-food chains to the likes of Manny Pacquiao who brings home millions of dollars for his family after an international fight. All these three different kinds of a father are all on equal level for one has the same quality of being a good provider. So regardless if the father is rich or poor, a father will always provide for his family the best way he can. Yet, we their children usually ask for more things we don’t have and the things our father cannot give for that moment. These things make a father’s heart bleed especially when his children do not appreciate his efforts for his family and ask for the things he cannot afford. Manny Pacquiao’s children for sure do not have everything even if they have millions. They do not have that thing called satisfaction. Man in his childhood must be thought to satisfy his self without forgetting his desire for self-progress. One must think of moderation of his desire.
2. LECTURER – a father is the one we all feared or respected. For his voice and words are so powerful that a simple whistle or a call to our name makes us run towards him. He usually tells us words of wisdom and virtues at anytime of the day. I usually oppose his words of wisdom and virtues like his belief of having true friends are the greatest treasure on earth a man can have. By the time I think my father was somehow right in his virtues and wisdom, I have already sons who think my virtues and wisdom is somehow wrong. Actually, all children are born to rebel to his father for consciously or unconsciously they blame their father for having less in life. They thought their father should have done better for them to have a better life. I was exactly the same person to my father when he was still alive. I thought I would be better than him. But now he was long gone, every day of my life I slowly learned and saw that all the wisdom and virtues he taught me was all right and effective to have a better life. I was exactly him and more. And I know he will be very proud of me for following all his wisdom and virtues in life.
3. NO. 1 FAN – my father is my number one fan and my first fan in my life. A simple smile made him so happy. My first step was the biggest feat a man can do for him. My first word made him clapped his hand out of joy. Any first of mine made him so proud and happy. He believed in me so much until I grew up and forgotten my number one fan. I started to look for other people who will believe in me. Whether in sports or in academic field, I made it a point that I will be the center of attraction. I tried to impress others whereas I had the most loyal fan of all, my father. It is really sad for not until I lost my father that I’ve learned that I’ve lost my number one fan on this earth. His belief in my simple accomplishment from a simple task was never been match by anyone.
4. POOR FATHER BECAUSE HE MAKE US RICH – Actually, we are richer of every peso we have in exchange of our father being poorer of every peso he had. We have more in the expense of our father having less. I saw many fathers eating less so his children could eat more. I saw a father giving the best space of the house for their children so they have a better sleeping time whereas he should be the one sleeping for he will be up for work early in the morning. All fathers sacrifice a part of him so we all have a better life on earth. Only a father can do this.
5. MY FATHER’S SHADOW – Now that I am a father, I am a complete reflection of my father. Maybe more, bigger, and clearer of my path. I believe each father and his children have a special bond and special mission very unique just for them. My father and I have that and I am glad I found it. The only drawback is I learned it when he was already gone. I just hope and pray that my children learn the lesson while I am still around with them. And hope that you my beloved readers have a time especially unique with your father.
Happy father’s day to all fathers. May all the children be proud of his father and follow and learn the lesson given.
