Claudine undergoes psychiatric treatment

By | August 16, 2011

Nice to hear from colleague Linda Rapadas that Claudine Barretto is back in top shape, showing her convivial and sprite nature once more. Claudine reportedly admitted to writer-chums that she underwent psychiatric treatment to fight stress and depression which tapped her then. Now, her marital relationship with Raymart Santiago turns smoother and stronger than before. Claudine has also come to terms with her sis Gretchen Barretto after a tiff for quite a time. Obviously, both have buried the hatchet, so to speak.
With a positive demeanor, Claudine looks forward to the success of her new teleserye under Kapuso network titled Iglot. The project reunites her with Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin. The three used to be under contract with the Kapamilya station.
“We all make mistakes but what counts most is to shed off our negative vibrations and to face the future with renewed hope and change for the better.”Claudine was quoted as saying.
Nora Chooses TV-5 Over Ch. 2 and GMA-7?
It’s on the record that Nora Aunor inked a contract with TV-5 to top cast a TV drama series. Heard that its bigwig paid for her plane fare and accommodation in a plushy condo. Did Nora opt for that offer over Ch.2 and GMA-7? Or shall we say she’s the one snubbed by the said networks? In any case, the superstar’s movie comeback will be opposite Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito, Gen Emilio Aguinaldo Story. This will be followed by the latest sequel of Mano Po intended for the Metro Manila film Festival .The opus has been confirmed by Lily Monteverde, one of the ardent supporters of Nora.
With the open admission of ex-pres. Joseph Estrada that he has already forgiven Nora for what she did to him years ago (too personal to recount again), will the small workers of the showbiz industry who are members of MOWELFUND learn to forgive Nora also? The duo’s feud badly affected them. Allegedly, out of Nora’s closeness then to Pres. Gloria Arroyo, she influenced GMA to cut government’s support to MOWELFUND (SSS of showbiz people) which was founded by Erap.
Whether true or not, many waters have passed the bridge. Di ba, Filipinos have short memories and forgiving?
Maricel’s Dilemma
Looks like bad luck consistently taps Maricel Soriano. After her mom died, she’s said to be at loggerheads with her siblings. Reportedly , Maria’s manager junked her that she’s rumored to be financially unstable. Latey, two maids filed a case against Maria. And to top it, not a few comment that Maria suffers a slump in her career. How does Maria take such pitfalls?
Some have presumed that Maria seems totally perturbed, broken into pieces. But her intimates aver that being a woman of steel, with self-aplomb, she can easily regain her composure and star stature. Heard the latest news that Maria is now managed by Shirley Kuan who’s the manager of Sharon Cuneta. Hopefully, she’ll push Maria up in the ladder of fame again.
Trivia:
Did you know that in the ‘50s to ‘70s, there were lucky newcomers who gained stardom in their first film, with no flash-in the-pan success. Namely; the deceased Fernando Poe Jr. (Anak ni Palaris), Charito Solis (Nina Bonita), Chat Silayan (Ang Maestro) and Johnny Delgado (Machine Gun Johnny). Ex-child stars cropped out, Tessie Agana (Roberta), Vilma Santos (Trudis Liit), Snooky (My Little Angel) and Nino Muhlach (Leon at Daga).
Then singers became instant stars in the late Diomedes Maturan (Rose Tatoo ng Buhay Ko), Letty Liboon (Nasaan Ka Irog) and Victor Laurel (Lollipops & Roses).A married with kids tyro Boots Anson Roa made it in her debut(El Perro Gancho). From the beauty arena, ex-Miss Universe Gloria Diaz shone (Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa).
That era recreated the lives of heroes onscreen. Premiere Productions came out with Buhay at Pag-ibig ni Jose Rizal (Eddie del Mar), Diego Silang (Jose Padilla Jr.)Andres Bonifacio (Teody Belarmino). LVN Pictures produced Lapu-Lapu, Dagohoy (both top billed by Mario Montenegro),Padre Burgos (Jaime dela Rosa).
Historical movies during the said decades came to the fore too like Heneral Pawa (Efren Reyes Sr.), Urduja (Amalia Fuentes) Gabriela Silang (Virginia), Rizal’s Sisa (Anita Linda), Noli Me Tangere (Leopoldo Salcedo), El Felibusterismo (Pancho Magalona).
Not to be outdone, Lebran Productions produced religious vehicles Pagsilang ng Mesiyas (Norma Blancaflor as Virgin Mary and the infant then Tirso Cruz 111 as baby Jesus), Kalbaryo ni Hesus (Jenning Sturgeons as Christ who ironically was atheist in real life)
Later in the ‘70s producers did a remake about Rizal titled Rizal sa Dapitan (Albert Martinez) Jose Rizal (Cesar Montano), Gregorio del Pilar (Romnick Sarmenta) and Bonifacio (Julio Diaz).
Cherrie, Jean Top cast TV Drama
What do you know? The country’s famous female contravidas Cherrie Gil and Jean Garcia clash for the first time in lead roles. That’s in the new teleserye of GMA-7 entitled Time of My Life Who outshines who? Do we hear both exert extra efforts to upstage one another? Included in the cast are Mark Herras, Kris Bernal and Roco Nacino.
Maja, Matteo Still Lovey-Dovey
Albeit Maja Salvador and Matteo Gudicelli never announce they’re lovers, their actions speak better than words. In several affairs of ABS-CBN, the two exude lovey-dovey deportments. Why the abjure from the truth? After all their diehards approve their togetherness.
Career-wise, Maja clicks in the role of a screwball ex-rebel in Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin. Her subdued acting in highly dramatic scenes earned the critics’ nod. Maja has metamorphosed into a sensitive actress. While Matteo assimilates now how to reach the audience and viewers as co-host of Happy, Yipee, Yehey.
Incidentally, did Maja notice that she made an error as the annotator of the Filipino on Demand ad regularly shown at the The Filipino Channel? Maja mentioned that one episode supposedly top lined Angelica dela Cruz. Yet the scenes showed its Angelica Panganiban, with Derek Ramsay. How come the in charge had overlooked the blunder?
Charice VS Maria Aragon Looms
There looms a battle royal as Pinoys’ pride in Canada and U.S. Pinoys’ favorite Charice are both under contract with ABS-CBN and its Star Records. Intrigues won’t be far behind, what with the recent TV interview on Maria. She mentioned all the warblers she likes and hopes to sing with, but didn’t mention Charice. Did Maria purposely snub Charice?
Whatever, the duo’s tandem in a concert will surely be most awaited and a record breaker. Let’s wait.
