From the ‘50s to ‘80s several child stars achieved fame also in their grown up years. In 1950, foremost of all was Tessie Agana, considered the child superstar. Her mom was the famous Sampaguita Pictures actress Linda Estrella.
The outfit big boss Dr. Jose Perez convinced Linda to allow Tessie to be a child actress. In her first assignment, Tessie was catapulted to stardom via the comics serial Roberta, a thoroughly dramatic vehicle.
At once, she was an instant star that could be attributed by its record breaking box office result. Her other starrers Prinsesa at Pulubi, Anghel ng Pagibig, Kerubin, Ulila ng Bataan, Rebecca and Kerubin were all money makers. In her awkward years, Tessie opted to temporarily leave showbiz world.
As a lovely teenage girl, Tessie regained her fame in romantic comedy flicks ignited by Amy, Susie and Tessie, with co-Sampaguita Pictures actresses Amalia Fuentes and Susan Roces that was a record breaker at the tills.
Then Tessie enacted the love triangle of Susan Roces and Eddie Gutierrez in Eddie Loves Susie. Prior to her decision to live abroad, Tessie bannered Rikitik, Rositik, 9 Teeners and and the lead star of TV and radio TV series.
Reportedly, Tessie joined her mom Linda who was a U.S. resident then. In the early ‘60s, the daughter of top actress Amalia Fuentes named Liezl shone as an outstanding child star. As the producer of AM Productions, Amalia opted to give her a break in lead role via Poor, Little Rich Girl, a smash hit also. At that, Comedy King Dolphy got Liezl as his partner in the fantasy-comedy Pinokyo en Little Snow White, another blockbuster.

Later, Liezl who often called me Mr. Fuentes told me pointblank. “I know you’re on the side of mom again. That’s why I call you Mr. Fuentes.“ However, with the advice of her dad Romeo Vasquez, Liezl learned the positive results of Amalia’s strictness. And did abide to her mom’s rules.
In her college years, Liezl still managed to remain in the limelight as a celebrity, mostly paired with Albert Martinez. Eventually, Albert became her husband, sired her three children; Alyanna, Alfonzo and Alyssa prior to her death. Worth to mention too is none other than Snooky Serna, the daughter of the deceased actor Von Serna.
Several films in her pre-teen year catapulted her to a talented star. In her grown up years she tackled lead roles, be it in drama, comedy and sexy assignments. Currently, she’s active in TV series.
