LAST MARCH 21, 2022, President Joe Biden gave a speech in which he used the phrase “New World Order.” “Now is the time when things are shifting. We’re going to — there is going to be a new world order out there, and we’ve got to lead it. And we’ve got to unite the rest of the free world in doing it,” Biden said at the Business Roundtable’s CEO Quarterly Meeting in Washington D.C. While the phrase is used to denote a significant geopolitical change, it is also used by conspiracy theorists who believe that a secretive globalist authority is seeking to control the world under a totalitarian regime and strip sovereign countries and its citizens of their freedom.
While I’m surprised to say the least that Biden took the courage to utter “New World Order” amidst the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I’m not sure if he truly understands what he just declared. It’s either he believes that he’s winning the war in Ukraine, which he’s not – heck he even vowed never to send American troops to Ukraine – or he’s playing war games with his generals in the Situation Room at the White House, who are telling him he’s winning the war.
First of all, he told his NATO allies, who have formed the NATO Response Force (NRF) — a 40,000-strong multinational force of land, air, maritime, and special operations personnel NATO could deploy on short notice as needed – not to go inside Ukraine. Huh? Isn’t that the reason why the NRF was formed: to fight the Russian invaders of Ukraine, a NATO ally?
No substitute for victory
How does Biden expect to defeat the Russians if he’s staying out of the battleground? During the Korean War, President Harry Truman and General Douglas MacArthur had disagreement about the methods and overall purpose of the war. MacArthur came to believe that Truman was forcing him to fight without allowing him to win. When China entered the war on the side of the North Koreans in November 1950, MacArthur called for the bombing of Chinese bases, a blockade of China, and possible nuclear strike on China. But Truman saw the conflict as a limited war with limited goals. He didn’t want to see the Korean War escalate into an all-out war on the Asian mainland. For Truman, Europe and the Soviet Union were the main stage and fighting a full-scale war with China would be, in the words of General Omar Bradley, Truman’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “the wrong war, the wrong place, at the wrong time, and with the wrong enemy.”
On April 11, 1951, Truman fired MacArthur for publicly criticizing him in his handling of the war. Eight days after his firing, MacArthur gave a rousing speech before a joint session of Congress in which he uttered, “In war there is no substitute for victory.”
MacArthur was of the belief that the “policy of containment,” by asking military commanders to lead their troops to battle without giving them all necessary means to win total victory, was wrong.
What’s in Biden’s mind?
What exactly did Biden have in mind when he declared that the U.S. was going to lead a “New World Order” and unite the rest of the free world? He can’t even stop Russia from its genocidal bombing campaign against Ukraine’s civilian population that has been killing women, children, and elderly people. The least he could have done was to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, which would require NATO allies to shoot down any Russian aircraft. But Biden was fearful of imposing a no-fly zone over Ukrainian airspace that could escalate tensions and lead to war. My gosh! The U.S. is already at war with Russia – albeit a proxy war. He also rejected Poland’s offer to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine due to the possibility the move could draw NATO into the conflict.
NATO is already drawn into the war in Ukraine the moment it took part in the formation of NRF. Come on, let’s not kid ourselves, World War III already started on February 24, 2022, when Russian tanks crossed the border from Belarus. For anybody to say that war hasn’t started because NATO hasn’t entered Ukraine must be dreaming. Ukraine is being bombed like hell and people are being killed. How can NATO turn a blind eye to the atrocities being committed against Ukrainians? Or is NATO living up to its name, No Action, Talk Only?
Moldova invasion
Recently, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko appeared to broadcast a planned Russian invasion of Moldova during an address to his security council that was televised and posted online by the autocratic regime. Calling himself the “last dictator” in Europe, the Belarussian autocrat, an ally of Vlademir Putin, stood in front of a battle command map that appeared to show a planned attack from southern Ukraine into Moldova, a former Soviet republic, which borders Ukraine and Romania. But Romania is a NATO member, while Moldova is not.
Last week, Moldovan President Maia Sandu requested NATO through U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to join NATO. Blinken did not respond. He could at least have acknowledged it and conveyed it to NATO for consideration. As of press time, Russian troops have surrounded Odessa, which is only 117 miles from the Moldova border. After Moldova, Russia would probably invade Georgia again, this time to take the whole country. And next will be Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, three former Soviet republics that became independent when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. Putin would also want to annex them.
Recently, the NATO alliance held an emergency summit in Brussels, which Biden attended. He announced that the U.S. is deploying 100,000 American troops to Europe including the elite 82nd Airborne Division. But it didn’t help Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinksy who virtually addressed the summit and pleaded for help.
But Biden stood his ground while both political parties accuse him of not doing more to help Ukraine, of not supplying the Ukrainians with fighter jets, tanks, and artillery, and emphasizing “what he won’t do “ to help “rather than what he will do.”
Press conference
At a press conference in Brussels, Biden bragged that he accomplished three things: (1) To support Ukraine with military and humanitarian assistance; (2) To impose severe sanctions in order to cripple Russian economy and punish Putin for his actions; and (3) To fortify the eastern flank of NATO allies, in which four battle groups were deployed to Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Slovakia, all bordering Ukraine. But why not send troops to the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania that share a border with Russia? Could it be that NATO doesn’t want to provoke Russia by deploying NATO troops just across the border from Russia? If Russia attacks the Baltic States, their governments would fall within four hours. That is where the weakest border of NATO territory needs to be defended.
If there is one thing that Biden didn’t address was: How will NATO and the U.S. stop Putin from bombing Ukrainian communities? For each day that the war goes on, hundreds of Ukrainians die or lose their homes. Another month of bombings would level most Ukrainian cities. Russia will turn Ukraine into a barren wasteland.
Once again, Biden and his NATO allies don’t seem ready to face Russian aggression. You can feel it when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg talks. I don’t blame him. It’s hard to answer to 30 bosses. I feel sorry for him.
Biden then went to Poland to chat with the 82nd Airborne troops. He had a nice photo op with the boys, pumping their hands and patting their backs. Other than that, nothing much happened and the troops would probably remain idle waiting for the Russians to cross the border from Ukraine, which they wouldn’t. That’s the only way for Russia to destroy Ukraine without having to worry about NATO intervention. Putin had it all figured out how to defeat NATO without firing a shot.
Last March 26, Biden made a “major” speech in Poland in front of Ukrainian refugees. As it turned out the “major” part of his speech was his announcement that he’s increasing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. That’s old news and that’s not “major.” What Ukraine needs are heavy weapons. And he reminded everybody that NATO was a defense alliance. Hmm… Does that mean that the 82nd Airborne Division was deployed to Europe and just be spectators to the carnage, genocide, and wholesale societal destruction that are happening in Ukraine?
I’m beginning to think that what Biden is leading is a “New World Disorder.” Once again, MacArthur was right, “In war there is no substitute for victory,” either you win or you lose. In Ukraine, the U.S. and its NATO allies are losing by just standing by.
