ANGELICA COMPARES LLOYDIE WITH DEREK

By | April 15, 2013

In a chat with a colleague, she recounted that finally Angelica Panganiban opened up, why she couldn’t help compare current bf John Lloyd Cruz with her ex Derek Ramsay. And what caused her break up with Derek .
“Six years kami ni Derek but three things truly hurt me. Firstly, all the time he was a controlling bf. Then Derek never supported me in looking for my biological dad. Most importantly, his previous marriage in 2002 with Mary Christine Jolly.” My source quoted Angelica as saying.
Through enough her relationship with Lloyd matters yet in a brief span of time. However, he has already adduced to her his willingness to assist Angelica in searching for her real father. It’s pellucid too that he hasn’t tied the marital knots with anybody. Angelica feels Lloydie procures a more understanding nature that could keep them together for long sans to control her every move.
But Derek ‘s confidante refuted what Angelica snorted. “She’s presumptuous. How could she eh 6 years silang on ni Derek, Kelan lang sila nag-on the Lloydie. Is she not aware that In the past, he easily broke off with his ex-gfs? Huwag magsalita nang patapos, it might happen to her too.”My source retaliated.
Noted for his gentlemanly nature, Derek refused to put Angelica in a bad light.
Ogie, Lovi in at TV5; Toni’s sis Out
So it’s true that Ogie Alcasid and Lovi Poe will soon be on contract with TV5. The duo’s manager Leo Dominguez divulged it to a colleague, so she swears. While Toni Gonzaga’s sister Alex definitely left TV5 to transfer to the Kapamilya network.
For sure, Toni will be as supportive as ever to Alex, especially the two belong to one station now. Toni won’t let Alex be a frozen beauty at the Kapamilya station.
Kris Defends rumored bf Carl
Kapuso star Kris Bernal can’t take the affront being thrown to her rumored lover Carl Guevarra. This early, the pernicious talk implies that Carl abuses her generosity, always asking financial favors from her.
“Of course not. Sobra naman yang tsismis. I’m too young to be called matron na nagsusustento ng lalaki. In truth, what I like about Carl is that he works hard to earn. Every time we go out dining, Carl always treats me. Ako nga nahihiya I’d like to share but he refuses,” Kris defended Carl propitiously.
A shade of intrigue pops up. Could it be true that another showbiz suitor of Kris who’s insecure of Carl instigates nega talks on Carl?
Trivia:
Did you know that at the time movie fans only accepted new stars that were single, Boots Anson Roa made showbiz history. Despite being married to broadcaster Pete Roa, with kids at that, her movie debut El Perro Gancho, opposite the late Eddie Rodriguez was a hit. An overnight star, Boots became more popular in films Santiago (with the late FPJ), Tatay na si Erap (with Joseph Estrada) and Wanted: Perfect Mother (with Dante Rivero), to name some.
Before Boots crashed showbiz, I got acquainted with her. That time her mom Mrs. Belen Anson was my chemistry professor in pre-med course at the University of the East. Boots ‘dad was the famous Sampaguita Pictures star the late Oscar Moreno. Oscar, dubbed the Robert Taylor of the Philippines in the ‘50s, had been paired with top actresses Alicia Vergel, Linda Estrella, Myrna Delgado and Norma Vales. Oscar was also the love interest of American actress Joan Page in the comedy-romance Asawa Kong Amerikana which bagged best screenplay award at the Asian film fest in the ‘50s.
To recall, prior to her movie career, Boots was a popular cover girl-coed of the University of the Philippines. She would often pick up her mom at U.E. All of us in the class were mesmerized by her beauty, charming ways. Not surprising, Boots became a TV host. Later she met, married broadcaster Pete Roa.
This writer renewed friendship with Boots during my early years as writer-pro. Truth to tell, I was touched when Boots recommended me to be the publicist of her most difficult role Saan Ka Pupunta Lutgarda Nicolas? Produced by Silver Productions, the owner Armand Silverio co-starred with Boots.
A milestone for Boots having entrenched herself as an A-1 actress, with accolades given to her by the award giving bodies and movie critics as well. The more then I realized how dedicated to her job, compassionate to co-workers and showbiz people was Boots.
Eventually, the movie people welcomed Boots with palpable, over-wrought feeling when Joseph Estrada handpicked her to sit as head of the Movie Workers Welfare foundation, the SSS of showbiz, which Erap founded. At times of financial crisis, Boots went out of her way to convince wealthy showbiz and non-showbiz chums to donate to MOWELFUND.
Indefatigable that she is, Boots ushered in sports festivities (basketball, volleyball, tennis, Martial Arts) participated by movie personalities to raise more funds, needed by the bed-ridden, jobless movie workers. And despite hectic schedules, taking care then of her sick hubby Pete, Boots found time to teach a college subject at the Ateneo (Dingdong Dantes was her former student).
When the late Fernando Poe Jr. ran for the president of the country, Boots was in her senatorial slate. Many thought that if not for alleged massive cheatings, together with FPJ, the duo could have been declared winners.
At this time, Boots remains chairperson of MOWELFUND, actively appears in TV, movies and visibly present in socially relevant affairs. Her daughter Chiqui Roa carves a name as TV host-broadcaster like her late father.
Jericho Upstages Coco
Coco Martin’s starrer Sta. Nina which he co-produced won the best film at the ASEAN Film Festival Awards held in Sarawak, Malaysia recently. But Jericho Rosales (Alagwa )was accorded with plaudits by media men, critics there. He lost the best actor trophy to Malaysian actor Shalheisy (Songlap) by a slim margin. Coco’s co-star Alessandra de Rossi bagged the best actress, with Anita Linda, Bugoy Carino received the best supporting trophies.
Thus, it appeared that the bloody dispute between the Philippines and Malaysia over Sabah didn’t hamper the results of the film fest as evident by the VIP treatment showered to Jericho, Ricky Davao and the entire Phil delegation.
Vet Writer Thankful to Showbiz People
My good friend ex-vet writer Baby ‘Bk’ Jimenez who resides at Richmond Hill contacted me to relay how grateful she was to showbiz during her vacation in the Philippines. They warmly received and even tendered a surprise birthday bash for her. Among them were Susan Roces(her best friend), Amalia Fuentes, Helen Gamboa, Charo Santos, Perla Bautista , Liberty Ilagan and Grace Poe Llamanzares.
Bk was elated when Julia Montes invited her on the latter’s debut. Sadly, Bk recalled she was at the wake of our mutual pal Mar de Guzman Cruz who died recently. Mar used to be editor of a movie mag, ex-pro of Joseph Estrada and a radio broadcaster. My condolences to his family, his sis who lives in Toronto.
