Recently, at the TV show Magandang Buhay, cousins Aga and Nino Muhlach recollected their younger years to hosts Jolina Magdangal, Kara Estrada and Melai. Aga recounted that after their aunt Amalia Fuentes shone to the fullest, another Muhlach hugged the spotlight, none other than Cinema’s Child Wonder Nino.
“Since we were kids Nino and I treated each other like brothers. He even recommended me to appear in some of his starrers. That time I was really awed how his fans, kids and adults alike, broke into pandemonium as they saw him. Sobrang sikat siya as child star.” Aga mentioned.
In this light, Nino recalled that as teens it was the other way around. Aga became a movie idol not only as a box office star but a versatile actor. “Being relegated to the background, it was Aga’s turn to ask the producers to get me as co-actor. Bumawi naman siya sa akin. That’s how we’re attached to each other up to now we’ve our own families.” Nino mattered.
Aga’s narration about his closeness to Amalia and his dad Cheng Muhlach’s treatment for Nino made this writer to reminisce that truthful fact. For it so happened for years I served as publicist of Amalia and D’ Wonder Films founded by Cheng and Nino’s father Alex Muhlach for Nino.
.It’s indeed true that Amalia’s only daughter the late Liezl was like a sibling to Aga. For he grew up in the care of Amalia up to his early teen years. Amalia would often tell me then her virtually happy moments with Aga. Plus the truth she was protective of Aga, especially to those who somehow annihilate his reputation.
Of course, misunderstandings between Amalia and Aga highlighted also akin to any relationships. I can’t put out of my mind an incident. One midnight, Aga called me to verify if Amalia would throw a press confab just to expose something about him and beauty queen-actress Charlene Gonzales days before their wedding.
With probity, I told Aga no such occurrence would transpire. Much more so, Amalia could not do it, what with her overwhelming care, love for Aga. An appeased Aga took my words. Expectedly, days later the two buried the hatchet, so to speak.
As what Nino narrated in Magandang Buhay, Aga’s dad Cheng was his guardian, supervised him during his reign as showbiz top child star. Since Cheng was always with Nino off and on cameras, my closeness with Cheng ensued. Oftentimes in jamming time Cheng asked advices on his personal life, aside from proper promo for Nino then.
In passing, during his bachelor days, Aga once divulged to me a promise to himself, if married, he will never plunge into romantic flings with other women. As it is, to this day he has grown up children by Charlene no rumors have surfaced on his being a cheating husband. Aga indeed keeps his vow.
American Host Impresses More Pinoys
After American host Ryan Seacrest’s message of ‘maligayang Bagong Taon’ to every Filipino’ at the New Year’s Countdown at Time Square New York during Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve, Pinoys showcased their appreciation. Reportedly, Ryan’s top tweets at his Instagram were sent by them all over the world which elated him.
Previously, Ryan who’s American Idol TV show host, aired nice words about the Philippines, led by his admiration to our Miss Universe Catriona Gray. For sure, Ryan will be welcomed with glee if ever he visits Philippines soon, out of his soft spot for the country.
James, Nadine: Lovers no More?
Both James Reid and Nadine Lustre neither confirmed nor denied their break up as talks spread out. The not propitious issue started at her Instagram words. Nadine implied how it feels on Losing someone which the conjecture of many leads to her split with James.
Whether true or not, the fact remains the two are still in good working relationship with projects together, aside being seen in gathering sans any bitterness. Some critics have augured that in all probability it’s the reported negative attitude of Nadine that allegedly led James to part ways with her. However, those around Nadine vehemently quashed it off. In contrast, she’s a cool, affectionate person.
Alden’s Thankful to Fans But…
Did you know that solid admirers of Alden Richards spent almost P100, 000 for their digital birthday greeting to him, seen in different places too? A truly elated Alden was thankful but didn’t favor spending a lot for him. Ah, it’s out of his inherent charitable nature to support needy ones since pre-teen years.
For the record, Alden has been active in many charity events, to ably contribute to the funds. Truth to tell, when his sister guested, won P50, 000 in a game segment of Eat Bulaga, she donated it to an institution for the poor as requested to her by Alden.
Incidentally, love-wise, could it be true that Alden has started courting Miss Universe Catriona Gray? If ever, with her suitors far and wide, does Alden have the chance to win her heart?
Sarah’s Overwhelmed by Sharon’s Words
At the recent ASAP TV show dedicated to the 54th birthday of Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo was touched, overwhelmed by Sharon’s praises to her. She mentioned to her younger children who were present to emulate Sarah’s goodness as a daughter, an unchanged character from childhood to her mature years.
This reminds me that once Sarah divulged to a co-writer that to co-star with Sharon in a movie is her cherished wish. Obviously, the two manifest mutual admiration for each other.
