ABS-CBN STILL WELCOMES VHONG; GMA-7 NOT BIASED ON HIS CASE

By | February 14, 2014

Through the business unit head of It’s Showtime Reily Santiago (brother of Randy, Raymart and Rowell Santiago), he discarded talks that Vhong Navarro would no longer be accommodated in the said program, out of his alleged rape case, mauling incident.
“It’s Vhong’s personal battle but ABS-CBN management, its showtime will welcome him if he’s ready to go back to the show which gives all out fun and laughter. That’s why we don’t want to inject sadness kung laging pag-uusapan ang nangyari kay Vhong.” Reily divulged to some press people.
About the controversies involving It’s Showtime hosts which began with Vice Ganda (his publicized rift with Jessica Soho on his rape joke on her), Anne Curtis (when she slapped several persons at The Fort), Billy Crawford’s break up with Nikki Gil (due to another It’s Showtime host Pauleen Garcia) and now Vhong’s ballyhooed court cases, he disagreed it’s a Karma for It’s Showtime.
“All of them are nice, behaved people. It’s a mere coincidence, unintentional that they got embroiled in troubles.” Reily explained.
Meanwhile, based on Twitter Accounts which accused Jessica Soho and GMA-7 news programs not being fair on reports on Vhong just because he belongs to a rival network, Jessica implicitly voiced out. “We will assure the public that GMA-7 news coverage on Vhong’s case won’t be biased but truthful and factual in contrast to what others claimed.”
Like Nikki, No Sex Policy for Yeng
For nearly 8 months popular songstress Yeng Constantino goes steady with Victor Asuncion. Her recent declaration has made not a few to compare her with Nikki Gil with no sex before marriage vow which yielded her split with ex bf Billy Crawford.
Admittedly, Yeng sticks to her belief to honor marriage above all. That once physical intimacy prevails, relationship goes to another level, might cause confusion. So sex should be done after tying the marital knots.
“I’m happy that Victor understands, shares the same sentiment being a religious person too. If we are meant for each other, our togetherness will eventually end up at the altar.” Yeng snapped to her confidante.
Trivia
Lately, I’ve a frequent communication with good chum ex-actress Beverly Vergel who now resides in Mississauga. This made me recollect the lives of her famous parents, the late couple Alicia Vergel and Cesar Ramirez, among the famous celebrities of their generation.
Alicia was considered one of the greatest actresses then who excelled not only in drama but also in action and comedy starrers. In the tearjerker Basahang Ginto, Alicia won the FAMAS best actress award. Yet she shone too in action flicks, notably Huling Patak ng Dugo and the jungle girl movie Diwani where an accident befell her. Yet Alicia still accepted action movies.
Truth to tell, Alicia’s penchant for rough and tumble roles had impressed an American producer who chose her for a female lead role in the period picture The Day of the Trumpet a US film shot in its entirety in the Philippines , with Hollywood actors John Agar (ex-husband of top actress Shirley Temple), Richard Arlen, Bill Phipps and featured Cielito Legaspi (mom of Raymart, Randy, Rowell Santiago).
On the other hand, Cesar placed second, Mr. Luzon, in the search for Mr. Philippines contest. His virility, good looks awed Sampaguita Pictures top brass, the deceased Dr. Jose Perez. He offered Cesar instant stardom via the legendary folk hero Bernardo Carpio.
At first, Cesar was slated to be the love team of actress Norma Vales bur Dr. Perez opted to pair him with Alicia. This ignited their off-screen romance which culminated in marriage. One of the duo’s most successful team ups was in the top comics serial MN, written by Pablo Gomez.
Subsequently, Alicia and Cesar founded the movie outfit Ace York Productions named after their son Ace York who was a child actor then who starred with the late Movie King Fernando Poe Jt. In Anak ng Bulkan, produced by Premiere Productions. Ace eventually became a popular action star Ace Vergel prior to his demise.
Speaking of Fernando Poe Jr., this writer recalled to me why he valued Alicia and owed her tremendous gratitude. You see, during the time of the notorious Big Four syndicate which preyed on stars, with threats of kidnapping, sexual assaults and serious physical harm if they wouldn’t give a huge sum of money, both Ronnie and Alicia refused to yield in to the syndicate
Ronnie recounted to me that one time he almost fell to the clutches of the said hoodlums which occurred inside the Premiere studio. Due to the intrepid nature, alacrity of Alicia, she saved him. “Dahil sa presence of mind ni Alice. Naisahan sila. Naitago niya ako sa compartment ng kanyang kotse. Tapos matulin niyang pinatakbo ang car nang ma-distract ang attention nila.” Ronnie expounded.
To elucidate further, when Alicia turned Barangay chairperson in QC, near the vicinity of Sto. Domingo church, she got recognition for instilling serious discipline among the constituents, particularly the bullies. As a Barangay tanod narrated, “si madam mismo ang sumusugod sa mga nanggugulo. Ang tapang niya, walang takot talaga.”
In the “70s, it was multi-awarded megger the late Lino Brocka who persuaded Alicia to stage a screen comeback through the drama opus Inay with her son Ace Vergel. The film garnered accolades from the movie critics and award giving bodies as well.
Of course, the deceased couple left another showbiz gem in showbiz Beverly who, akin to her mom, was well rounded also be it in drama, action or comedy.
A Renewed Feud for Marian, Jennylyn?
Years back, Marian Rivera and Jennylyn Mercado were branded at odds with each other, Not only because the two fought for the Prime Time Queen tag of GMA-7 but more so with their alleged rivalry over Mark Herras. If anything, both disproved such allegation.
Lately, rumor mongers circulate words to the effect a renewed feud exists anew between Marian, Jennylyn and their respective followers. Could be brought about by Marian’s new TV series Carmela and Jennylyn’s Rhodora X which vie as current top rater at the Kapuso network.
The reported snubbing incident shown by the actresses in a gathering triggers such animosity. Albeit Jennylyn vehemently shrugged it as a balderdash accusation indeed.
Bashers Hit Xian Lim
Recently, in the Twitter Accounts some bashers hit Xian Lim after he appeared in the Chinese New Year offering of the TV show Banana Nite They commented that his acts were unbecoming, especially when he laughingly said the Kim Chiu look-alike winner in It’s Showtime Charmae Viking’s more a dead ringer for Kapuso star Bea Binene.
Xian apologized later with the excuse he had no bad intention, just did a comic stint with the rest of the hosts. On the contrary, Bea herself was not offended. She divulged to writers that truthfully she’s flattered that Xian compared her to Kim. And for Bea that’s a compliment.
Spicy News: Probably, James Yap would have been fulfilled on his birthday this Feb. 15. A no longer squeamish Kris Aquino wants 2014 be positive for her. That’s why she allowed her son Bimby to be with his dad that day. Hopefully, the ex-couple will be more cordial to each other sans throwing of ornery words.
Due to the court cases filed by Vhong Navarro against businessman Cedric Lee, his alleged mendacious, violent nature is being talked about. These include his past cases of violence, including his affair with ex Vina Morales. But Vina pleads to leave her and daughter by Cedric from the controversies.
“Please lang, nananahimik kami ng anak ko. Huwag kaming idamay.” Vina was quoted as saying.
