A RACIST ACT FOR ROBIN?

In the recent airing of Pilipinas Got Talent, Robin Padilla who’s one of the judges stirred a brouhaha . A Korean Jiwan Kim who was a contestant sort of enraged Robin. He reprimanded the Korean that the fact the latter has stayed in the Philipines for 10 years, he should know how to speak the Filipino language.

At that, bashers attacked Robin, calling him a racist and acted haughtily. However, Robin has no regrets for his action. “I just frankly told him the right thing having joined a Philippine talent show. Di ko siya inaway. I just felt irritated that even a single Tagalog word I requested he couldn’t utter.” Robin buttressed.

From a reliable, heard that the co-judges of Robin in the said program, including Vice Ganda and Angel Locsin have exuded mixed reactions about Robin’s action.

A most respected movie mogul, Atty. Laxa served as president of Philippine Movie Producers Association (PMPA) up to his demise.

Half Chinese producers surfaced to the fore, headed by Lily Yu Monteverde of Regal Films, noted builder of sex aymbols  who wore her trademark ‘magic kamison’, among them Dina Bonnevie, Snooky Serna, Cherrie Gil and Gretchen Barretto. Regal Films won also accolades for acting, best picture handed by award giving bodies.

Mirick Productions owned by Jesse Chua shone eventually brought by the huge hit Jess Lapid Story which launched Lito Lapid to full stardom and in demand action star. He was followed by Robbie Tan who formed Seiko Films. Robbie was identified as the maker of overnight bold stars, led by the late Stella Strada and Claudia Zobel. Subsequently, the likes of Rita Avila, Francine Prieto and DianaZubiri rose to fame also.Influenced by his sister Lily Monteverde, Jesse Yu founded Lotus Films, with the award winning Tatay Kong Nanay which earned for Dolphy and Nino Muhlach the FAMAS best actor and child performer respectively.

A Non-Showbiz Lover for Maja

Did you know that contrary to expectation of others, it’s not probable for Maja Salvador to rekindle her love with ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson? The truth is, Maja appears gutsy to open up she dates frequently with a non-showbiz guy who has been a loyal pal for fifteen years. Beforehand, the two were high school classmates.

Billy’s Unexpected Decision

After more than ten years under the management of Arnold Vegafria, Billy Crawford signed up with Viva Artists Agency. His move seems abstruse for some but Billy cleaves to it. For one, it’s  bilious  to hear he and Arnold parted with a rift that didn’t occur at all.

According to Billy, no one convinced him to transfer. For a change he craves for a new chapter in his life, best to obtain at the start of 2018 but would remain grateful to Arnold for his previous accomplishments.

On the romantic side, Billy crosses his fingers his relationship with Coleen Garcia will be more fruitful, hopefully anticipates a project that would pair them together.

MMFF Top  Four Grossers

The Metro Manila Film Festival committee announced the eight entries for the recent film fest grossed a record breaking P1 billion plus  from Dec. 25 to the second week of January. The top four money makers were Revenger Squad, Ang Panday, Siargao and Haunted Forest. Vice Ganda’s Revenger.. beat Coco Martin’s Ang Panday for first place at the box office.

Bashers who are obviously critics of Vice Ganda echo. “Ah. Lalong yayabang, lalaki ang ulo niya. When will he display humility?” Interestingly, Vic Sotto’s starrer Meant to be Beh didn’t make it to the top 4 grossers. First time it happened for in the past Vic’s films at the MMFF, his entries landed to the top.

An Insensitive Move for Derrick

Few days back, Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio  disheartened even his fans on improper words he wrote about AIDS patients at his Instagram. It appeared to be hurting to those who have AIDS. At this writing, Derrick apologized, proptiated the offended ones.

“It was meant as a joke but I realized my mistake for that delicate issue. I promise to be extra careful next time in my comments.” Derrick pellucidly stated.

Who says Rico J. Puno will no longer be available in shows due to health problems? Well, did you know that after three heart surgeries Rico has been given clean bill of health by his doctors? In fact, he’s back with a concert at the Resorts Wold Manila on Feb. 14 called Timely OPM, with Imelda Papin, Claire dela Fuente and Rey Valera, the Pinoy music legends.

Once again, A Filipino shines at the 75th Golden Globe Awards. Gini Santos got the Best Animated Feature for Pixar’s Coco. While couple  Robert and Kristin Lopez were nominees for its theme song. Previously, holders of Best Animated Feature were Fil-Ams Ronnie del Carmen for Inside out and Josie Trinidad (Zootopia) that attested Pinoys  excel in animation.

My deepest condolences to Vhong Navarro and his family for the death of his dad Danny who was hospitalized for weeks. Danny was my officemate as lay out artist at the Balita Manila newspaper for years. That time, Vhong was befuddled why I was updated on writing about his love life, unknowing that Danny was my source. Eternal peace be with you Danny.

At the 15th International Cinephile Society (ICS) , John Lloyd Cruz would compete in the acting award for The Woman Who Left (Ang Babaing Humayo). The movie’s nominated for best foreign film and the screenplay category for Lav Diaz who wrote, helmed it. ICS honors  American, non-English flicks yearly. On Feb. 4, the winners would be declared.

Guess who’s the latest that has caught the ire of Kris Aquino? He’s none other than controversial motoring journalist James Deaken who got involved in the Bongbong Marcos controversy, allegedly his good chum. At the social media account, James sort of intimidated Kris about her past interview with him. A plucky Kris replied that James used her as a ‘shiled’ to shun away with his issue with Bongbong.

Could it be true that Liza Soberano is on the verge of backing out from Darna role? Allegedly, her health has something to do with it. A confidante of Liza, however, negated it. “Truthfully, she’s all prepared for the action sequences, having undergone a lot of training.”
