Engaging in the power of negative thinking does not always mean choosing the dark side of life or being gloomy. When people see you as pessimistic or doubtful, they often point out the power of positive thinking. In short, this approach focuses on the bright side—whether in resolving arguments or finding solutions to problems.
Dreamers, for instance, rarely dwell on the negativity around them. To them, negative thoughts are merely distractions. They focus on their goals and do everything within their power to achieve them. They begin something, any projects, or goals, but their mindset is always at the end of it.
Those people who exercise the power of positive thinking will do all in their power to reach their life goal and realize their dreams; if they cannot get it by going to the left, they will go to the right. If that is still not possible, they will go above board or go under, but the main aim is to achieve their goal by whatever means, by hook or crook, as they say.
A word of caution: we cannot keep on dreaming and wishing for something without exerting effort to realize our goals; it’s important to keep putting in more effort and be more determined in reaching for our “Star”.
Well, we cannot be complacent or have the “Bahala Na” “come what may” way of thinking, believing that things will happen as they will without doing anything.
On the other hand, those who lean toward negative thinking argue that things can go wrong. They believe it is better to be cautious by identifying risks early and avoiding unnecessary mistakes.
In many situations, this mindset can be useful. By considering worst-case scenarios, they can prepare backup plans and respond more effectively when unexpected problems arise.
Focusing always on the worst-case scenarios, and even failures can affect our very confidence and our way of life.
However, being negative most of the time carries its own danger. It can lead to hopelessness—constantly expecting failure without even trying. When negativity becomes overwhelming, it stops being a tool for preparation and turns into a barrier to growth and progress.
At times, people use the power of negative thinking to try to reach their goals, but they are extra careful, and in a way, checking every step of the way, and if they fail in the end, all they can say is, well, “ this is all expected, I’ll just do it again and again until I succeed.”
In the end, balance is key. Positive thinking inspires action and hope, while negative thinking, when used wisely, helps us stay realistic and prepared.
But if we still fail to reach our dream, we shouldn’t be disheartened; we can move on and take it as experience.
When writing this piece, what comes to mind is the lyrics of the song, Impossible Dream, that says: And I know if I’ll only be true to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I’m laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.
It’s good to remain balanced in the way we think; that way, we stay grounded, ready to face the consequences of our decisions, in both the best and worst scenarios, knowing that life is not always black or white. At times, it’s gray, so many gray areas in our lives.
