SARA’S STAR SOURS

The Chair Mann, Phnom Penh

The Philippine Secretary of the Department of Education and Culture, Sara Z. Duterte, who is also the concurrent President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) visited Phnom Penh last week. President Sara paid a courtesy call to Minister Hangchuo Naron, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia. In the meeting the two heads of education from both countries discussed the close cooperation of all member nations within SEAMEO.

O will be making rounds of members nations in Asian to promote stronger relation and understanding in regional education. During her Phnom Penh visit, President Sara visited one of the few Filipino owned and the only DEC accredited school operating in Cambodia.   

As Philippine Vice President, Sara Duterte also visited and met with her Cambodian counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun were they discussed strengthening the relation and ties between the Philippines and Cambodia. As member nations of ASEAN the two leaders knows the importance of cooperation and bilateral relations.

Cambodia is home to about 7,000 Filipinos, working as educators, middle management in manufacturing, hospitality and entertainment services, and entrepreneurs in various sectors in the country. Vice President Sara hosted and met the Filipino community during her short visit. She met most of the Filipino leaders in Phnom Penh and had an opportunity to talk to them about their concerns and discuss with the community how the Office of the Vice President is open to aid concerns of Filipinos.
