PAULO, LJ TO MARRY SOON?

With their extra closeness, sweetness visibly seen, Paulo Avelino and LJ Reyes are said to be on the brink of marriage this 2013. If anything, LJ instantly brushed off such report.
We’re going strong yet no marital plunge whatsoever. In fact, he’s busy with his works at the Kapamilya network. Ako naman one and a half year pa ang contract sa Kapuso station. In other words, we’re both occupied, no room for marriage.” Thus snapped LJ to her writer-chums recently.
There are other issues which LJ clarified. Firstly, she’s not sulking over the fact that Paulo upstages her, career-wise. “I’m happy for him, proud for his success. At least, Paulo remains humble.”
About the brewing talk that LJ plans to transfer to the Kapamilya network to be near to Paulo, she mattered, tongue on cheek.
“Bakit may offer ba sa akin? Seriously, I’ve no inkling about it. Medyo matagal pa ang kontrata ko sa GMA-7 and I can’t ask for more. Let me think if the proper time comes.”
On the spiciest item that allegedly Paulo has a gay benefactor, LJ cajoled. “Sige, ako mismo ang magpapatunay kung totoo nga. As of now, I’m sure Paulo doesn’t go for that kind of fling. After all, he earns a lot on his own sweat. Siguro dahil di siya suplado sa third sex that’s why he’s misunderstood by others.” LJ claimed with no frenetic reaction.
Innuendoes on Film fest Results Still Rage
Weeks after the Metro Manila film fest awards night, innuendoes still rage on topped by the controversies over Thy Womb not making in the top three best pictures. Mostly the Muslims bestered that the judges discriminated the plot which in its entirety depicted Islam culture.
On another aspect, in their tweeter accounts, the Noranians questioned how come Thy Womb, a winner of several major awards failed to win the best film, a puzzling issue indeed.
There were those who commented that Dingdong Dantes showcased fine acting in One More Try. But couldn’t decipher how come he beat the likes of Bembol Roco (Thy Womb), ER Ejercito (El Presidente) and even Enchong Dee who stood out in The Strangers.
A critical pal-writer of mine demurred with harsh words. “Well, possibly it’s because the pro administration people run the awards night yearly. Remember, Dingdong’s close to Pnoy and one time chosen Youth Ambassador of Good will by him.”
Personally, I’ve no comment for I haven’t seen any of the film fest entries.
Trivia:
Did you know that in 1950 authorities in all fields of showbiz founded the first award giving body called the Maria Clara Awards? The major winners were best actor Ben Perez (Bagong Umaga), best actress Nena Cardenas (DobleCara) and best director Gerry de Leon (Bagong Umaga).
Then the year after, the body was changed to the Filipino Academy of Movies, Arts, and Sciences (FAMAS). Among the awardees were best actor Jose Padilla Jr. (Sawa sa Lumang Simborio), best actress Anita Linda ((Sisa) best supporting actress Nida Blanca (Korea) and best director Gerry de Leon for Sawa… which won best film also.
During the 50s, 60s, the top five finalists in every category were accorded honors as the country’s best That to be a nominee ensured prestige already. The reason why the FAMAS body decided to hand special award, the Hall of Fame for the winners of 5 trophies.
These included performers Joseph Estrada, Eddie Garcia, Fernando Poe Jr., Charito Solis, megger Gerry de Leon, Cinematographer Felipe Sacdalan, musical scorer Tony Marquez. In the 70s Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, cinematographer Romy Vitug joined them.
Later, another special award had been added, the Dr. Jose Perez Memorial Award in memory of the late Sampaguita Pictures producer who excelled in public relations. Those given recognition were Charrie Araullo, ex presidents of the Philippine Movie Press Club Ethel Ramos, Letty Celi, Ronald Constantino and Ernie Pecho, the late Ross Celino Jr, Rustom Quinton, Efren Esteban and Nena Villanueva, editors Ricky Lo and Nestor Cuartero, pros Emy Abuan Bautista and this writer.
Akin to other award giving bodies, FAMAS had been rocked with controversies. However, the worst transpired in 2004. The pas presidents, officers and long time members staged a walk out to protest the act of then president the late Art Padua . They accused him of violating the FAMAS constitution. This ushered in two FAMAS bodies.
Currently, those in the know, however, consider the original group, spearheaded by Chit Sambile and Col. Jimmy Tiu as the legitimate FAMAS body, with the approval of the Securities & Exchange Commission.
Willie’s Show Goes Noontime
So it’s on the record that this 2013 TV5 management has revamped some of its shows. Not to mention reports that those celebs whose contracts have expired won’t be renewed. Firstly, on Jan. 26, Willie Revillame’s Wil Time Big Time will be telecast noontime against Eat Bulaga, It’s Showtime.
That would coincide with Willie’s birthday celebration. With audacity, Willie remarked it has surprises that will forwardly take his rival programs off guard. Really? Let’s see…
Haplessly, heard from a grapevine that Willie’s employees, people around him allegedly did not get the usual bonus he had handed before. If ever, what happened to his noted financially extravagant style during the Yuletide season. Does Willie turn cheapskate? Hope not…
Ai-Ai, Marian Co-Producers
Don’t look now but it’s true that early 2013 Ai-Ai delas Alas and Marian Rivera will not only top cast a movie. Yes, the duo will co-produce the high-budgeted light comedy-romance opus. As Ai hastened, “I want something new for me this year. Kahit controversial si Marian I’ve always admired her. I like her candid , frank nature. Magkakasundo kami nang husto.” Ai-Ai buttressed to writer-chums.
In Marian’s case.she wants to invest on something which makes her not hangdog. “Of course, Ai-Ai’s a box office star. I’m sure our team up will do a killing at the tills. At saka novelty ang aming team up na hindi inaasahan ng marami for we belong to rival TV stations.” Marian explained.
As of this writing, both have not clarified which movie outfit will release the film. Most probably though, Dingdong Dantes would be in the cast.
Richard Affected by Sarah, GMA-7 bigwigs Fray
Understandably, Richard Gutierrez’s torn between his GF Sarah Lahbati and GMA-7 bigwigs ‘rift these days. This stemmed when reportedly, Sarah did walk out at the set of Indio, causing more expenses for its producer. Then the Kapuso bosses claim Sarah violates her contract in connection with her leaving soon for Switzerland to pursue her studies.
Well, if Richard backs up Sarah he would be involved in the imbroglio and might make GMA-7 top brasses bilious. Not a few somehow drivel that Sarah caught the ire of the management upon leaving GMA-7 Talent Center to ink a contract with Annabelle Rama as her new manager.
Annabelle, Unusually Quiet
Unlike before, Annabelle Rama seems to hedge herself from the said tiff. She’s unusually quiet. Her confidante reasoned out that Annabelle, for a change, doesn’t want to appear kontrabida. Yet the general consensus is that she heeds the advice of her political advisers to refrain from controversies for the good of her candidacy in Cebu as Congresswoman.
Gossip Items:
A popular actress allegedly asked her TV director to reshoot some of her scenes in a new tele serye, saying she was disgruntled by her acting. But some surmised she’s just insecure of being upstaged by her co-star, an award winning young actress.
Rumors soar high that Sarah Geronimo feels jealous of the romantic issue between Gerald Anderson and Maja Salvador. Gerald and Maja are often seen dating, so they say. O, di ba sabi ni Sarah he’s just a friend? What gives?
