DEPRESSION ENGULFS PAULO?

The usually cool, composed Paulo Avelino has been bruited lately to be engulfed with depression. So much so that he allegedly attempted suicide. But according to my source, his manager Leo Dominguez dispelled the talks as daffy and balderdash.
“In truth, Paulo starts filming Pagpag, with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. He’s about to start a new TV drama series for the Kapamilya network. That makes him highly spirited nowadays. Perhaps, those envious of Paulo have scattered such dander talks.” My informant quoted Leo’s words.
Whatever, there are those who still have the inkling that Paulo undergoes difficulties with his love life of late.
A Second Chance for Megan
With her adversity to reach star stature in her showbiz career, being the first Pinay to bag the Miss World crown will do magic to Megan Young. If there’s no truth that she has moved to TV5 , ABS-CBN management will surely take notice of her. Indeed in the past, Megan had been relegated to the background by her peers at the Kapamilya station, with no vital roles handed to her.
This time new TV shows might be in store for Megan or even big movie projects for her. After all, it took a long 63 years before a Pinay beauty queen finally won the Miss World title which she truly deserves with her ravishing looks, charm and intelligence.
Trivia:
The news that currently the ex-actress, erstwhile head of the ABS-CBN acting workshop Beverly Vergel’s on vacation in Canada, staying at her daughter’s digs in Mississauga, brings to my mind the enduring friendship with her for three decades.
The offspring of the famous couple in the late ‘40s and ‘50s the deceased Alicia Vergel and Cesar Ramirez and the younger sibling of the late famous action star Ace Vergel, Bev inherited her many talents from them. Even before Bev entered showbiz, this writer had great admiration for her.
It so happened that time, Bev was a student of Siena College in QC where she graduated cum laude. Often heard then from my daughters who also studied there and from other schoolmates how nice, convivial as a person she was, aside from her academic excellence.
The reason why I made the gumption to befriend Bev when she turned movie star which all the more impressed me, knowing a lot about her. As a well rounded actress be it in drama, action or comedy, a shade of her mom and sibling’s inherent talents, Bev easily became the leading lady of top action stars Fernando Poe Jr., Rudy Fernandez, Bong Revilla and Ronnie Ricketts. Comedy King Dolphy got her as well for her partner in the riotous movie Bakit Kinagat ni Adan ang Mansanas ni Eba.
Primarily, what drawn Bev to me and the press people on the whole was her truthfulness. She admitted to us she’s the mom of a pretty kid, with a request not to mention it in the publicity that we willingly obliged. Her being a loving sis to Ace whom she thoroughly supported during his hellion years and hard times up to his death left a magnanimous mark to the people around her.
When Bev’s daughter grew up as a teener, made it as ABS-CBN discovery named Tracy Vergel, she did a go-signal for the movie press to divulge she’s her daughter. Once more, Bev displayed her being a dutiful, caring mom to Tracy who was a mainstay of the TV series Tabing-ilog, with her batch that included Piolo Pascual, Jodi Sta. Maria, John Lloyd Cruz and Kaye Abad.
At the time Tracy quit showbiz to stay in Canada for good, Bev tackled a new field as the head of the acting workshop of the kapamilya network. The upstarts enrolled under her tutelage. Albeit once in a while, Bev still faced the kleig lights be it in Boob tube or wide screen.
Our good relationships have mellowed through the years and never would she snub me in my invitation to grace this and that affair. Most importantly, Bev would be there in my moments of bereavement in the demise of my loved ones.
In my three years stay in Canada, we often communicate with each other and through her, got in touch with Tracy every now and then. Before Bev enplaned for Canada, heard she founded her own acting school, with some of her showbiz chums.
Upon her arrival in Canada, how nice for Bev to contact me for our reunion which showcases our fortified bonding.
Robin , Vhong not Feuding
Robin Padilla laughed off the buncombe rumor that he left his TV show Toda Max out of his indifferences with co-star Vhong Navarro. Allegedly, Binoe felt bad that Vhong had more exposure in the said comedy show.
“I asked a vacation from ABS-CBN bigwig’s dahil sobra akong busy sa filming ng 10,000 Hours na Metro Manila film fest entry ko. You see, it’s hard for me to do a serious role tapos all the way comedy naman ang Toda Max.” Robin confided.
More so, Binoe considers Vhong one of the best comedians so it was ok for him if he took a backseat on that aspect. “In fact, Vhong’s a highly respectful person and never kaming nagkaroon ng misunderstanding.”
Another starrer that Binoe will shoot soon will reunite him with actor-siblings and possibly with his nephew Daniel Padilla entitled Kuratong Baleleng based on the talk about real crime story then.
GMA-7 launches Janine
Bubbly teener from a showbiz clan Janine Gutierrez will be launched to stardom by GMA-7 in the remake of Villa Quintana, opposite Elmo Magalona. She’s the daughter of Lotlot de Leon and Ramon Christopher and the granddaughter of Eddie Gutierrez and Pilita Corrales.
A blithe Janine chuckled to writer-chums how excited she was to meet for the first time her mom’s American dad Donald Olson who visited the Philippines recently. Of course, everybody knows that Lotlot grew up as the adopted child of Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon.
“I’m so happy to be with my biological maternal grandpa and the loving concern of my entire family in showbiz, including my cousins Ruffa, Richard and Raymond (Gutierrez). What more, my Lola Pilita coaches me too in singing.” Janine uttered.
Derek-Christine Break Up: Due to Sex Video or Third Party?
Officially, after a month’s romance Derek Ramsay and Christine Reyes confirmed their break up. Though both not bitter, nothing was said what caused their separation. Derek was vocal in saying it was a private matter not needed to explain why.
In any case, tongue waggers elude it to what transpired lately along the duo’s path. Could be brought about by the alleged viral sex video of Christine and ex-bf Rayver Cruz. Or by the involvement of a third party Ynna Asistio who’s linked to Derek of late. Which is which or none of the mentioned?
