My e-book–A New Home in Canada: A Filipino Immigrant’s Story–, is on Amazon

Amazon has released my e-book entitled “A New Home in Canada: A Filipino Immigrant’s

Story & Other Essays: Hope in Canada: Memories, Challenges & New Beginnings.

This book is a collection of essays about my family’s journey as new immigrants to Canada.

We faced many hardships, but we did more than survive. Through determination, hard

work, and, most of all, the love we shared as a family, we found the strength to keep moving

forward.

We knew life would not be easy, but we faced every challenge together. Each of us did our

part to lighten the load and support one another through difficult times.

This book also includes memories of our life in the Philippines, reflections on life,

observations about everyday living in Canada, and human-interest stories that touched my

heart.

More than a collection of memories, this memoir is a message of hope to future generations of immigrants who leave their homeland in search of a better life. It reminds us that when everything else is uncertain, family is our greatest strength, and in the end, we have one another to depend on.

Here is the book Introduction:

This book is a collection of personal essays that chronicles my family’s journey through the challenges and triumphs of starting a new life as immigrants in Canada. Faced with uncertainty, hardship, and countless sacrifices, we did more than simply survive—we persevered through determination, resilience, and, above all, the enduring love that held us together. That love became our greatest source of strength, guiding us through every obstacle and reminding us that no challenge is too great when a family stands united.

From the very beginning, we understood that building a new life would not be easy. We confronted each difficulty with courage, sharing both the burdens and the responsibilities that came our way. Together, we celebrated small victories, comforted one another through disappointments, and discovered that our greatest wealth was not material success but the unwavering support we found within our family.

Beyond our immigrant experience, this book also reflects on our former life in the Philippines—the people, places, and memories that shaped who we are. It includes personal reflections on life, observations about the everyday rhythms of Canadian society, and human-interest stories that captured my heart and inspired me to write.

Many of these essays first appeared in my personal blogs, while others were published in newspapers or preserved in the pages of my notebooks over the years. Gathered together, they form a tapestry of memories, reflections, and lessons learned across two countries and two chapters of life.

More than a memoir, this book is a tribute to family’s strength and the resilience of the immigrant spirit. It is written for future generations—for those who leave their homeland in search of a better future, carrying with them dreams, hopes, and the courage to begin again. My hope is that these stories will remind readers that success is measured not only by what we achieve, but by how we endure life’s trials with compassion, faith, and perseverance.

For when everything else is uncertain, family remains our greatest refuge. In the end, the love we share is the foundation on which we build our lives, wherever in the world we may call home.
